I have a feeling that professing folks in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona(not coastal but close to that region) , Alaska and Hawaii are less hung up on dress, hair and entertainment. It is the Midwest, North East and southern US where the hangups are occuring. I would rather profess in California or Arizona that Iowa or Illinois. It is the areas under control of Charles Steffen, Barry Barkley or Taylor Wood where the archaic stuff prevails.

My family professes in California and in my experience the dress code is still enforced. Daisy, The dress code of old is not enforced in Southern California. When I was young, we did not dare wear a close fitting blouse or sleeveless or capped sleve top. Today we see tight fitting knit tops all over the place (look at the convention pictures on some sites). We would not have dared show up at a picnic in shorts or pants...we were always in skirts. I did not even own a pair of sweats until I left the meetings some 10-11 years ago! Yet you see this in many of the pictures that are posted on the Boards. I know my daughter and daughter-in-law don't follow the old dress code either! Both "professing"! Best regards, Edy

I was not aware of some of the past standards. I do know that you can pick my sis out of a crowd. She wears her hair slicked back in a tight bun, long loose skirts, blouses with high necks closed toed shoes, no make up etc

"Worldly" people in the Upper Midwest are strict. So professing people tend to be stricter than the worldlings so they can be the "right example!"
