Well, I was struck by how little any of them knew scripture, and how often their opinions were based on their feelings rather than grounded solidly in scripture.

Well, the 2x2 kids know a lot more scripture than probably the vast majority of kids today. I don't know any stats as to the percentage of kids who claim to be Christian. Many are nominally Christian...many not at all.

Many are nominally Christian...many not at all. I guess that is according to where you hang out to get the stats. If you go to churches that have youth programs, there are lots, and lots, and LOTS of young people that know a great deal about Scripture. Now, yes, they may still be in the minority, but please don't count them out! Best, Edy

I don't know how to say this without coming across as an old, judgmental prude. Maybe I don't know enough about how kids dress today to even compare professing kids with other ones, since I have never had children. I can only draw on experiences with my 20-something year old niece and nephews who were not raised in "the truth" but who are very whole hearted in their religion (Baptist).
As someone who professed 29 years ago at age 19 and stayed in for just a few years, I am shocked to see the pictures and read some of the words of the professing kids in California on "myspace". The things that were "forbidden" in my youth seem to be flaunted! Bikinis? Alcohol (in moderation...of course?), movies? Some of the words sound like "f&w speak" but the pictures don't match that paradigm. Very strange.
I have returned to meetings in the past year in Tennessee, concerned that people would treat me like an alien with my professionally dyed blond, short hair, makeup, sandals, and no hose. I have been shocked to see (mostly on the young people) white shoes...open toed shoes...stiletto heels...no hose...mini skirts...slits up to your whatsit...makeup...midriffs...
At first, I thought...COOL! These folks have changed with the times! Now I just think it's strange that my young Baptist relatives look (and maybe act?) as if their standards are higher than some of the kids in "the truth." Maybe the Baptists have gotten stricter? Or maybe I AM just an old fogy now!!

I think this insight just goes to show that the claims of many about rules (black stockings indeed) and other restictive cult practices are a load of balony.

So the experiences of many should be rejected because of the experience of one? (That probably suits your beliefs) Careful. You're showing your bias.

"experiences of one" ?
There are some 300 professing kids on that site, it gives some broader basis that "experiences of one".
It does not discount the previous experiences of others, but that site tells it as it is TODAY.

I'd suggest to judge these kids in the myspace.com context. They are very conservative compared with the average myspace user.

How does one get on to this myspace.com once the site is pulled up. I mean, how would one get to where these meeting kids are located as they must have a separate site or something. Would appreciate help.

To "wondering", the groups that appear when you go to the links listed above ("I go to meetings!" and "Professing Kidz")are the kids you are looking for. Do not look for pictures of people in buns or dresses though!!
To "jxr". Okay, thanks. I have lived a fairly sheltered life, even though I've been "in the world" for most of it. I haven't seen other "myspace" users. EEK!!

F&W kids may know more than a vast majority of kids today, but I would definitely exclude from that majority other kids who are New-life Disciples. I wonder how many of these have you discussed the scripture with lately? Yes, there are nominal (if at all) Christians, and there are also nominal (if at all) professing F&W kids. I have not recently discussed scriptural truths with "professing" kids, so I don't know their level of understanding. Would it be MORE than other new-life disciples. Would it be LESS? I don't know. I think I'll go to My Space and find out. Blessings, Linda

This is an excellent example of what many are saying - changing rules of appearance has nothing to do with changing false doctrines. Forget the pictures and read what they are saying. Indoctrinated cult embryoes. If anybody thinks they are demonstrating a superior grasp of doctrine - you are kidding yourself. Personally, I felt the youth message board is just tragic evidence of blind indoctrination of gullible youth.
