Religion is man's way of trying to find God. God isn't any religion, he dwells in the hearts of those whom he has chosen to be His children by the power of the Gospel.
God is the God of the Gospel not the God of religion.

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
(Note: Seems to be a difference between "God" and "the Father".

The religion defines God, or god, or gods. These definitions may or may not overlap between religions.
