Why do workers hold special meetings and gospel meetings on Easter? Some children would love to spend the evening hunting eggs instead of going to a gospel meeting several counties away.

I think having a special meeting on this day is awesome! However, I would like to see people spending more time on the "truth of the day" instead of teaching their children paganism!
Best Regards, Edy

I would have no problem with having gospel meeting or special meeting on Easter IF the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus was the main emphasis. Sadly, in most it will not even be mentioned.
Taken from “Hope for Each Day”
He has risen! He is not here. (Mark 16:6)
"The message of Easter is the central focus of Christianity. The apostle Paul said, "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins" (1 Cor. 15:17). It's as simple as that. If Christ is still dead, then He cannot be our Savior, for He was not the Son of God, and He died like all men. More than that, heaven's doors are still locked! But if Christ is risen, as the Scriptures teach and the witnesses testified, then we have the ultimate hope of humanity---eternal life with the God who made us and the certainty of life beyond the grave! Just as surely as Christ rose from the dead, so He will return and take us to Himself. Every promise---without exception---will be fulfilled. What a glorious hope we have because Jesus IS alive!"

We had a celebration of Jesus being risen and now we can go directly to him ourselves for whatever needs we might have during church this morning. Plenty of mentioning of the death burial and resurrection.

But couldn't they have an easter egg hunt after special meeting or gospel meeting? That couldn't hurt the "spirit of the meeting" , could it?

Where I come from, the Easter egg hunt is always on the Saturday before Easter. Where do they hold it on Easter?

Every Special Meeting I attended that was held on Easter was definitely not awesome because there were always several comments of the "world" and what they were doing at that time and how wrong it was. I always wondered why a celebration of the Resurrection of the Christ would be considered wrong for any reason!

I don't like to call it the truth, but yes. And that is what I called it for so many, many years.

How many years? Which conventions did you attend.

How many years? Which conventions did you attend. Almost 50 years. Conventions in 6 states in the Midwest plus Colorado and New Mexico.

What was the thought that made you leave? The thought that we in the worker's religion are the only ones on the face of the earth that will make it to Heaven. Can't swallow that one.

That is a long time to be in the worker's religion to conclude that! Though I do agree with the conclusion, what is heaven and are you still planning on going?

That is a long time to be in the worker's religion to conclude that! Though I do agree with the conclusion, what is heaven and are you still planning on going? There are various reasons for staying in the religion even though you don't agree with a lot of it. That's what I did. Not so quietly biding my time. Waiting for God to open the door out. Heaven is the place our souls go to after death. However, Eternal Life is ours right now as we are seen clothed in the righteousness of Christ as the gift of His shed blood, simply because we believe in the power of that blood alone to remove our sin. So, yes, I am absolutely still planning on going!

The focus was definitely on Jesus.

How can you be humble and condemn all other Christians? In the Special Meeting I attended today, there were many references to the cross and resurrection. I haven't heard any worker condemn true christians, it is the fake, hypocritical ones that the bible condemns....for the reasons being given. At the same time, we can all feel that there are many times we fail, but failure to take correction is not getting it.
