If the workers want to put a meeting in your home and you say NO, how do they react? Does your stock go down immediately?

My husband & I were renting a very small house when Dan Hilton approached us, wanting to put a Sun a.m. meeting in our home. Having just moved into the area, we felt a bit strange thinking that perhaps there were other families that were 'worthy' of the privledge so we voiced this concern.
As only 'Bedrock Dan' could do, he thundered this reply, 'We know what we are doing when we place a meeting in a home. In all my years in the work, I've never a meeting removed from a home of which I placed.'
In all fairness to Dan, his bark was worse than his bite! We didn't know him well at the time, however, and both my husband and I felt rather cowed!
The meeting was placed in our home.

When we were offered Wednesday night meeting, we were already making plans (privately) for our exit.
Because there was no reason to change meeting it seemed to us that the offer was an attempt to draw us back.

I came to the place where I could no longer have the meeting in our home. I no longer believed the way I once did, I no longer wanted to 'play' the part and couldn't, in all honesty.
After much soul searching & discussion with my husband, we decided we needed the meeting removed. We phoned the workers, had a visit, and they asked for a couple of weeks to make other arrangements and that was that.
At that time, the sister workers wanted to have a weekly bible study with me, to answer some of the questions that were plaguing me. I very kindly declined their offer, stating I needed to find the answers on my own, confident God would lead me to truth.

Good answer, Liz! My mother had the very same thing happen to her, only it was when she decided to quit going to meetings. The head worker called her up, said he had heard she was "confused" over some things, and offered to have a study with her to "clear up her questions". She, like you, politely declined and said that she did not require that because, despite what he suggested, she did not have questions but was actually quite at pease with her choice. To that he said "Well atleast I tried" and then asked her if she was aware of how long a lost eternity was. I can't even begin to explain how shocked and angered I was, but I guess on the plus side it served as just one more affirmation for her, and for myself, and the choices we both made.
