How can a 9,10,11 or 12 year old know what they are doing when they stand to their feet and profess? I can't say when someone should profess. But I know that MOST children under 16 would make such a major choice based on peer pressure, fear of displeasing someone or an attempt to fit into a group.

Do they do it for acceptance? yes, usually So they have started for the wrong reasons, and they continue for the wrong reasons. Whats so right about that?

I 'fessed at a rite young age and for none of the reasons listed above. I certainly didn't have a true understanding of what it meant to be a Christian, or exactly what I really was doing, but I knew that I wanted to have a deeper fellowship with Christ.

I professed at age 12, after resisting for at least 3 years. However, I was an extremely slow starter (no doubt still a slow learner), but knowing that God reached out and touched my heart when I was really young gives me hope that He will continue to do a work in me, as I give him my heart.

Some threads are laughably inane. Like posting that Some trees are too green.

Exactly same impression came to me if I saw such choices at conventions. Indisputable there is a great pressure to young people. Often not directly proclaimed by words but by signs and comparisons to other young people with same age or relatives. Sorrily I heard parents talking to a child: "You have professed, so You can't do that or that or that.... Remember this!" Often young people come in conflicts therefore if they have to decide normally things at school or at work. This fact is part of mind control .

If they weren't pressured to come up with a testimony twice weekly! I don't like to see children feel like they HAVE TO PROFESS. If it were an option (it sort of is but there is the lost eternity bit), it would be different.
I thought I was lost because I was 11 and not professing! I felt like I would go to a lost eternity if I died. I blame my parents for indoctrinating me. They meant well and loved me. Just how they had also been raised.
I hope more juveniles find these websites and start to reason things. if they profess, at least it won't be because of the fear of going to a lost eternity.

I wouldnt say I thought much of eternity, spirtual things before this age. Im guessing most of these young proffessing people are orginally from America? Kids seem to grow up faster over there for some reason?

I don't think the workers want small children to profess. They just don't know how to stop it without offending the little ones. They test a mission for an elderly man and a small child stands up and professes!

It is and illusion to fit in. Some never really get proper development choices. They skip steps and then become disfunctional.
