Our worker spoke of not having a "form" of Christianity but having Christ within. He said too many join a religion or group of people and feel comfortable but it is not about joining up with anything but rather about getting to know God and having a relationship with him. He said "many point to the workers as the way to God but we are not the way to God, we are only mouth pieces trying to point folks to God that they can form a relationship with him"

I had church by myself...I thought about Acts ch 4 vs 12 Niether is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved....
And I thought about Math 15:9....How be it in vain do they worship me teaching the commandments of men.... I want to keep asking God to help me discern what the diferences are between his commandments and mans commandments.....
And then my thoughts went to Spalm 119....i hope to meditate in this psalm about Gods word....getting inside my heart....giving thanks to God for his word...and asking God for his word to be spoken to me...his word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path
I need to really pray and think about Gods words and what are his commandments and that somehow I could do what he speaks to me....

Awesome messages! Thanks for sharing them.
Today we heard about "Missing the Mark" and "Falling Short of the Mark". The message was that these are two different things.
In Romans 3:23 it says that we have all sinned AND fallen short of the mark.
The Greek word for sinned is "missed the mark". It's an archery term. So, when we sin we are shooting our arrows in the wrong direction. But, falling short of the mark is more like we have taken aim, shot the arrow in the right direction...but we didn't quite make it to the bullseye.
He said we could be 1 inch off or 1 yard off, but we would still be short of the mark.
So, what he meant was that we may be saved in Christ but still falling short of the mark. The mark is the glory of God...abundant life...living and moving in the Spirit. After we are born again, we then begin to aim for the mark. Sometimes we try to deliver the arrow ourselves, and of course, we get discouraged and weak. Our arrows are just not quite making it.
However, if we take aim, let go and trust the work of Jesus in us, we can hit the bullseye! That's the mystery...
Christ IN us, our hope of glory!!
When Jesus said that he had not come to abolish the law, it must have been disappointing to some who had discovered the law was impossible to keep. Jesus even RAISED the standard! But, He also said that He came to FULFILL the law.
If we were unable to keep the old law, we know there is no way we can keep an even higher standard....but Jesus did it for us. So, we need to trust His righteousness. We are not to just mimic Him, but instead allow Him to do His work through us. It's a supernatural work.
In this way the Father is reflected in us as we are conformed to the image of the Son.
I don't know if I've articulated this message very clearly ...but anyway...it was encouraging to me.
Blessings, Linda

We heard about elders in the church community who may have looked useless to the world, but were still useful to God, and how, even when we can't do much, we can still stand fast in Jesus.
We heard about the grace of Jesus, and salvation by grace- and while this is a gift, it's only received when we BELIEVE, in an active sense. (Not just, yeah, Christ died for me... whoopee, but rather we believe and have a relationship with Jesus.)
we also heard about watching our words, and allowing God to bridle our tongue as we cannot undo words, but, if we have been offensive, we can see Jesus' help in making it right.
We heard about "giving it to God" as well.

withopeneyes.. Speaking of bridling our tongue. When my kids were smaller ( grown adults now) I used to talk to them about this very thing. I used to tell them if they were mad not to spew off things.
I would tell them to think about it and in the moring if the problem still seemed so bad then talk about it. That advice has saved my ownself many times of allowing the human side to get the best of me and say things I could never take back through hurtful words.
