I discovered this group and the song the other day. Mmmm. Good stuff.
The lead singer in one of the writers.
I see this as a bittersweet song. Things happen in life that bring disappointments, hurt, pain, you name, if you've lived at all you've gone through it. This song is one of those that could be ENTIRELY SAD, but it's not. Because no matter what happens in life he still loves the fall in Tennessee and no one can take that from him.
Her name was Autumn Ann Marie
Knew she'd be the one for me
Courted when the leaves were gold
Future left yet to unfold
Saved my money to buy a ring
Planned a wedding for the early spring
Gentle years like summer rain
Brought us too a fall of pain
chorus:
Seasons come and seasons go
Autumn left before the snow
She's not coming back to me
Nothings like it was before
don't have Autumn anymore
But I still love the fall in Tennessee
Solo instrumental
When I step into the chilly air
I close my eyes and she's still there
Walking in the autumn breeze
Blows her memory back to me
Visions of her smiling face
Something seasons can't replace
The reasons why she had to go
Only the Good Lord knows
chorus
Seasons come and seasons go
Autumn left before the snow
She's not coming back to me
Nothings like it was before
don't have autumn anymore
But I still love the fall in Tennessee
Seasons come and seasons go
Autumn left before the snow
She's not coming back to me
Nothings like it was before
don't have autumn anymore
But I still love the fall in Tennessee
Songwriters: Bob Minner / John Meador
And this is a big big way I deal with disappointments, changes, and what not. What can I still hang my hat on? IN the song, he still loves the fall in Tennessee....this has been such an interesting year....one of disappointments and even shock for some, but bit growth and change for others. And, at the end of it all......it's often bittersweet.
