I think she has a chance. She has great credentials -- and great experience. One thing for sure, this throws a wrench into Trump's campaign. He hates strong women, and she has a reputation for dealing Trump-style "perpetrators". Trumps policies are laughable. Close the border..... last time he was president he got Mexico to pay for a wall. haha Knock income tax on the head and replace with tariffs cos "China will pay them" hahaha Make it really difficult for women to get an abortion. It's a pity his mother didn't have one. Harris is more than a match for Trump. She is an articulate no nonsense woman up against a blustering bloviating rapist, scammer and fraudster. It will be interesting to see how many millions of americans like a man like that. In the first 24 hours since Harris announced her bid for president, she broke the record of political contributions in a 24 hour period -- and apparently 60% of the donors are people who have NEVER donated to anyone before. And she's as clear an orator as was Barack Obama. Apparently Trump doesn't want to debate her -- except maybe on Fox news.

You are right Snow, Women have been dominated by Men for far too long and the sooner that Men understand that, the better the World will be. On another thread we read about a Sister Worker that recorded a Worker's meeting. That recording has gone public and revealed the true agenda of the Overseers. Women have a lot to offer with their wisdom and understanding and are much more compassionate. The USA certainly needs the skills of a Woman to temper it at the moment, more than ever. Well Kamala Harris has sure taken off like a shooting star. She has been endorsed by all the top Dem leaders, donors are sending lots of money and volunteers are signing up to knock on doors. The Dems have been energized for sure. Exciting.

Not sure Kamila can do it, however, it's probably one of the best times in history for a woman president. Many women have had their privacy and care for their own bodies taken away from them and if she runs on the platform that 30% of women who live in red states already are in that reality, if Trump gets elected, 100% of women will lose their rights. Project 2025 wants a federal ban on abortion and his new VP is the one that says no exceptions even for rape or incest. He hails from the state where a 10 year old girl was refused her rights and she was the survivor of rape and incest both. So it will be an interesting race and decision on the side of the Dems. I wish it was Michelle Obama. I would vote for her.
AOC gave an update saying that the same Democratic elites who wanted Biden also want Harris gone as well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi9CBEgEFgg and later said that she was wrong about it... so we'll see.
The Democrats will have their work cut out for them giving the country amnesia. They'll need all hands on deck. Here's how it is already playing out.
In 2021, the AP and every other outlet reported that Biden had tapped Harris to lead the response to the border crisis. If you went back to 2021, it wouldn't be a question of whether that was a reality or not.
fast forward to "Give America Amnesia" mode, and the democrats and their media is saying, 'no no no.... that didn't happen.' Axios went as far as to say that they actually made a big mistake in 2021, when they reported Kamala was the 'border czar'. I guess that's one way to manage the truth... just say it was not true to begin with.
So get ready to meet an entirely new Kamala Harris, who didn't royally botch the one thing she was responsible for as VP. And get ready for any mention of the fact that she slept with a powerful California politician 30 years older than herself to get ahead politically to be a completely out of bounds topic (while we endlessly litigate Trumps affair with Stormy Daniels).
Who knows - she may be perfectly fine - though she's no Obama by any means. A lifelong democrat told me recently that she was the dumbest VP since Dan Quayle in the Bush Sr. years, and that if she was left of Biden, they'd vote Trump. For whatever it's worth (ie, nothing).
Polls indicate she's managed to reverse some of the damage Biden accumulated during the debate, though she's still got a bit to go to catch Trump. I expect the coming days leading up to the DNC will be spent devising a list of values and principles that can be sold with her to the public.
It would be really nice if the DNC would have an open convention where they could practice something akin to "democracy". The the greatest casualty in the noble quest of the Democrat party to save democracy seems to have been, time and time again, democracy itself.

Yes, she's a winner. The GOP is calling her a DEI hire. You can laugh, but your memory is lagging. Or, just like a good democrat, reality isn't your strong point.
Here's the demand in August 2020: "More than 100 prominent Black men released a strongly worded open letter Monday, warning Biden that not picking a Black woman would cost him the election. The signatories of the letter included rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, radio show host Lenard McKelvey (a.k.a. Charlamagne tha God), actor Cedric Kyles (a.k.a. Cedric the Entertainer), commentator Van Jones, Bishop William J. Barber and civil rights attorney Ben Crump, among others."
I went with Washington Post, CNN and NPR. Those are ok, right?
So of course she's a DEI hire. By definition, when you commit to exclude the hiring of everyone except someone who checks very specific boxes in the DEI framework, that's a DEI hire. It doesn't mean she's not a capable person, or that she would make a bad president - that is a non-sequitur. But she is a DEI hire.

This is a scorecard for Kamala Harris as a senator in 2020. You can see how any member of the house or senate ranks in terms of statistics and ideology on this site - it's rather useful. It doesn't mean "good or bad", it's just a measure of how extreme or moderate a person is based on voting record. www.govtrack.us/congress/members/kamala_harris/412678/report-card/2020Kamala Harris "Ranked most politically left compared to Senate Democrats", " Wrote the fewest laws compared to Senate Sophomores - Harris introduced 1 bill that became law, including via incorporation into other measures, in the 116th Congress. Keep in mind that it takes a law to repeal a law. Very few bills ever become law. View Enacted Bills »" "Joined bipartisan bills the least often compared to Senate Democrats - Of the 696 bills that Harris cosponsored, 14% were introduced by a legislator who was not a Democrat" " Was 2nd most absent in votes compared to All Senators - Harris missed 55.1% of votes (397 of 720 votes) in the 116th Congress" Let's be fair - on the Plus side... "Got bicameral support on the most bills compared to Senate Sophomores - The House and Senate often work on the same issue simultaneously by introducing companion bills in each chamber. 27 of Harris’s bills and resolutions had a companion bill in the House. Working with a sponsor in the other chamber makes a bill more likely to be passed by both the House and Senate." " Got influential cosponsors the 15th most often compared to All Senators (tied with 5 others) - 13 of Harris’s bills and resolutions in the 116th Congress had a cosponsor who was a chair or ranking member of a committee that the bill was referred to. Getting support from committee leaders on relevant committees is a crucial step in moving legislation forward." " Ranked the 2nd top leader compared to Senate Sophomores - Our unique leadership analysis looks at who is cosponsoring whose bills. A higher score shows a greater ability to get cosponsors on bills." So the same DNC which came together and got rid of Bernie Sanders in 2016 because they thought he was too politically left leaning to win a general election now has to figure out what to do with someone who ranks literally right next to Bernie, and the furthest left in the entire senate. They need an Open convention where they can vote for someone a little more moderate. Someone pleeeease send Michelle something nice with a note begging her enter the race. I know she hates politics (she's smart, that's why), but still.... I would be soo on the Michelle Obama wagon!!

We got it right in Australia, stay on the left side of the road. Safest place to be. Lefties tend to be Doves instead of Hawks. IMO better to be a Dove. Women are more like a Dove naturally. Hawks are those who advocate an aggressive foreign policy based on strong military power. Doves try to resolve international conflicts without the threat of force.
I have never liked Hawks, they used to take my chickens when I was a boy. But I do love Women, they are Doves and the symbol of peace, love, and purity.

Instigating, championing and profiting from war. The 2016-2020 period of time saw strong talk, little conflict. From 2020 to now we've seen weak talk, much conflict. But weapons manufacturer's stocks have been a great investment since 2020. Hopefully Harris doesn't mess up and accidentally bring peace - she'll have the left and the right mad at her.

The World would be far better off with peace. I understand that the USA has always profited from War, ie. Lend-Lease in World War II. The World will only have peace if everybody lays down their arms. There is more chance of that happening if Women were in control.

Axios went as far as to say that they actually made a big mistake in 2021, when they reported Kamala was the 'border czar'. I guess that's one way to manage the truth... just say it was not true to begin with.
She was appointed the border czar, but did nothing. So the defense is that "A dishwasher who washes no dishes can't be defined as a dishwasher". A polite way of saying Harris didn't do what she was assigned to do, so by shirking that responsibility, she can't be labeled the 'Border Czar' because the title didn't fit her actions... or the lack thereof.

Putin would have conquered Ukraine and been headed into Poland now if a peace loving Dove was in charge. Harris would be eaten alive by our adversaries. Nothing wrong with a having a peaceful ideology, but the reality is that there are monsters in the world that would exploit an easy going woman who wouldn't lift a finger to defend anything. She just talked to Netanyahu today and asked him to stop the war, regardless of the 120 hostages (8 Americans).

She was the most left senator in the democratic party in 2020. That's the actual reason - If I consider what my gas bill looks like, it's an easy choice. And energy prices drive everything. The media now has the job of convincing everyone to ignore their senses and do the "right, non-racist non-sexist" thing and vote with your heart rather than your brain. Since Trump still has a lead in swing states including Pennsylvania, the media will need to work overtime on their propaganda. Some sort of hoax tying Trump to something crazy might work..... let's see... the public are tired of Russia Russia Russia.... let's say Trump is involved in project 2025! That'll scare the sheep! 😂 This is why we're in decline.

The hope would be that Putin would realize she is a product of Washington and that general US policy will be largely unaffected with her. I'm resigned to the possibility that she'll be the next president (something democrats and Republicans alike would've thought horrendous just a couple years ago, but here we are), so we'll have to try to make lemonade from lemons if she wins. It is ominous that she had one major delegated assignment as VP (the border) and she turned a crisis into a humanitarian disaster into a national security threat, all while managing to never even visit the border. Expect the same level of competence spread out across all issues from a Harris presidency.

What I wrote was correct, Harris did not make the release of the hostages a condition of a ceasefire... She demanded a complete withdraw of the Israeli's from Gaza, and then said the hostages should be released.. She a novice, war doesn't work like that, Hamas would have no incentive to release anyone after Israel withdrew. "Help" was correct, she's a Dove, probably more of a wimp than Biden.

Harris did not call for Israeli withdrawal without the release of the remaining hostages. From: www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/07/25/readout-of-vice-president-harriss-meeting-with-prime-minister-netanyahu-of-israel/The Vice President and Prime Minister Netanyahu discussed developments in Gaza and the ongoing negotiations on the ceasefire and hostage release. The Vice President echoed President Biden in expressing the need to close the remaining gaps, finalize the deal as soon as possible, bring the hostages home, and reach a durable end to the war in Gaza.

Did they lie then? Those are left leaning publications. The notion that it's some GOP talking point is propaganda they're spreading now. This is the same media that called Joe "beyond cogent" and excused him for years. Have at least a bit of skepticism.

I see Kamala as running strong and voicing her own opinions now that she's campaigning for presidency. She is different from Biden but as VP went along in solidarity with her president. We must not forget that the solution to the border that a Republican brought to the floor was supported by both Harris and Biden and would have been enacted into law if Trump hadn't told them to veto it because he wanted to use the border problem as a campaign issue. He doesn't care about fixing it, he just wants to complain about the other guys. Recently there has been lower numbers coming across then when Trump was in office even. Crime is lower than when Trump was in office. Many good things were done for your country that helped all Americans. Like you I an hesitant to know if Harris is a good choice. So far I do like what she has been saying in the few rallies she has held and she definitely has the support of a lot of people. The polls are running her ahead of Trump and 5% of that are Republicans that once said they would vote for Trump, so that's huge. Michelle Obama endorsed Kamala and said she was so proud of her. Then Obama also came on line and endorsed her. She has the donors opening their checkbooks in big time donations. She has the younger generation and the backing of many Hollywood celebrities. That is a big boost. I would love for Michelle Obama to be president too. Love her and I think she would just take it away if she jumped into the race. But she won't. She didn't even want Barack to run but she did because she wanted to support him. Trump imo made a huge mistake with his VP pick. JD Vance is more extreme than Trump even. To want women to stay in violent marriage for the sake of the children is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. The whole reason why I had the courage to leave my violent marriage is because I didn't want my children growing up to think that kind of thing was something a woman should tolerate in a marriage. Hearing your parents fight all the time is not a good example to what a good marriage looks like. Why would you want your children to be subjected to that and then do the same in their marriages, continuing the dysfunction. Both my children thanked me for getting out of the marriage. He is against abortion for incest or rape. He is in the state that didn't allow the 10 year old girl who was a survivor of incest and rape to get an abortion in that state. That is hideous. And his latest comments that people who don't have children shouldn't hold the same level of power in your country is just flat out nuts. No, Trump did himself no favors and I think he's beginning to see just how toxic his pick is. Good for the other side though!

I follow Michelle on fb. You can tell her yourself. Her page is covered with comments pleading with her to run along with Kamala. She posted today that she is so excited to endorse Kamala and is so proud of her. So here is the link and you can plead with her like the rest of us on her page are doing www.facebook.com/search/top?q=michelle%20obama

No, Trump did himself no favors and I think he's beginning to see just how toxic his pick is. Good for the other side though! Gosh you're a breath of fresh air Snow! I also wonder whether Trump will shelve Vance for someone with more appeal. When it was Biden, it didn't really matter who he chose. And even though he's still firmly ahead when up against Kamala, the gap is more narrow than with Biden. I really am interested to see how pragmatic Harris would be as president. Obama after all was very far left as a senator, but governed as a pragmatic moderate. It might be the same with Harris. I'm much less worried about the prospect of Harris than Biden. Biden simply wasn't able to function for large bits of his presidency. I don't have any doubts about Harris' cognitive ability.
