Mom passed away last night at 930pm. I went to check on her at 9pm for her meds. It was pretty obvious she was gone, but I tried CPR for 15 minutes till the medics arrived. they tried for about 40, too late. At 8pm She got her insulin fine, then 9pm gone. There was no sign at all today we shopped and paid her bills and ate at her favorite restaurant. Teased her like crazy all day like I normally do. No sign... 5/12/1938 - 7/20/2023 Council Bluffs, Iowa Only her brother who will be 92 in Aug. is Left and his 2nd wife. This house is HUGE when you are all alone it in... Shes in Christs arms now... I'll post more later...

Very sad to hear, but glad she passed in her home with you nearby. It won't be easy, leaving a definite void, but it was good you could help with her struggling health over the past couple years, despite battling your own issues. I suspect your Mom wouldn't want you to stress over it, like all good Mom's, her concern would be for your well being now.

For you mom.... Her hands held me gently from the day I took my first breath. Her hands helped to guide me as I took my first step. Her hands held me close when the tears would start to fall. Her hands were quick to show me that she would take care of it all. Her hands were there to brush my hair, or straighten a wayward bow. Her hands were often there to comfort the hurts that didn't always show. Her hands helped hold the stars in place, and encouraged me to reach. Her hands would clap and cheer and praise when I captured them at length. Her hands would also push me, though not down or in harm's way. Her hands would punctuate the words, just do what I say. Her hands sometimes had to discipline, to help bend this young tree. Her hands would shape and mold me into all she knew I could be. Her hands are now twisting with age and years of work, Her hand now needs my gentle touch to rub away the hurt. Her hands are more beautiful than anything can be. Her hands are the reason I am me. Wally, we don't know each other, but I offer my condolences. Losing a mother is painful, no matter her age; she may have gone on to better things, as we say, but we are still left with loss. All the best.

You can take comfort in knowing that you have no regrets for how you treated her, and that you made her last days as comfortable as you could. This is good to remember.

A Mother's love is always with her Children. Losing a Mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom live on-like a legacy of love that will always be with you. Wally, may that love surround you now and bring you peace.

One of the friends just called. They mentioned a couple things that slipped by me. With the dementia mom had a hard time. On Wednesday night though she both took part and prayed for the first time in several weeks, she wanted to finish faithful.
Wednesday night was Proverbs 31. The virtuous woman/mom/wife. I spoke on that and used my Mom as an example in mtg and said moms name identifying her as the virtuous woman. And what I witnessed during those rough years she had till I was 11/12. It did not stop her from steadily moving forward being the virtuous woman.
She was gone the next night by around 930pm.
The person that called said she probaly has been waiting for me to say that forever. I'm glad I did now. She could move on in peace...

August 25th 11am to 1pm moms service. Cremated... They will send her 40 miles north cremate then send the ashes back. Medics damaged her head so no viewing before cremation. We didn't even go look. Reception after 1pm at funeral home? Online obit. Memorial. Blue urn, brass. I'll take home. We'll get an autopsy after all. Sister and I kept each other level. No one but sister and me there.
Mills and Mills funeral home LittleRock road Tumwater WA.

Mat_24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mom's favorite verse, or at least in the last 9 years she talked about this a lot...

When Mom (Betty) was born in 1938 these were some common prices of things.
Car: $700 Gas: .20 cents a gal Bread .09 cents a loaf Milk: .50 cents a gal Eggs: .18 cents per dozen Stamps: .03 cents Average annual salary: $1500 House: $3900 Rent: $27 a month Harvard Tuition: $420 per year
S&H Green stamps helped with food and gas.
Grandpa Eicher (Her dad) made about $25 a week at the UPR They paid about $10 per week for rent.

Quite an experience.

Sorry to read this Wally. I have away on holiday, and had decided to not browse TMB, so have just seen this now.
My sincerest condolences. I have empathy, losing two parents within a few months, and a mother inlaw only months after that. It is hard, you miss them, but you move on, and celebrate the memories.
All the best

I think in 1950 stamps may have still been .03 Hope you are holding up OK. Think about you often. Some time ago when I noticed your mother's maiden name was Eicher I wondered if she was related to Henry Eicher. Henry & I were companions in Pennsylvania in 1968. I thought him to be a wonderfully kind man. My wife professed in his gospel meetings in 1964.
