If at least the obvious and clear-cut cases van be dealt with, it would be a lot better.
We have to accept there will be cases that are hard to deal with, ie vague facts, false accusations for whatever reason, crucial testimony withheld by victim/s who choose to not report etc.
If the clear complaints were dealt with swiftly and properly, a lot of the anger and anguish we now see wouldn't have been.

Yes Dan, I totally agree but non reporting is not confined just to this church, it's a wide-spread problem with sexual abuse. It is just too traumatic for the abused person to make a report. There have apparently been 400 cases in this church situation where people have said they have been abused. I wonder how many of those will actually make it to the criminal investigation stage? My guess is not very many, and so many abusers will be left in circulation. It's such a hard one. I reckon so.. I must admit that I don't understand why a person wouldn't want to report it, I certainly wouldn't hesitate. Some may be afraid of being lambasted or don't think they can prove it, so why bother reporting it? But I'd want it on the record anyway.
Because of the delays, I doubt few will be prosecuted because vital evidence was not gathered at the time of the offense, and the burden of proof falls on the state.
Some of the limited responses we're hearing from Workers is no doubt under the direction of legal advise, specifics aren't mentioned in the interest of self-preservation. I'll be glad when this whole mess is over.
Dan, I understand how it is that you wouldn't understand why a person wouldn't want to report it. I say that because, for what ever the reason, you had the wherewithal to disassociate yourself from the workers yourself. I'm assuming you weren't involuntarily disassociated.

There are 2 kinds of groups of people. (1) Groups of people who live by the law and hold each other accountable for themselves. (2) Groups of people who regard themselves more righteous than the law and therefore selectively exempt.

True, I stepped aside years ago, but I'm ornery enough to think that I'd report it whether I was in or out of the Truth.. Not unlike yourself

The law has a way of delivering a dose of harsh reality to those who convince themselves that they're above the law. That's a lesson I learned the hard way, a revelation that hit me after spending 10 days in the Iron Bar Motel.

But true, being non-ornery will make it easier to stay out of the klink. I think you've read my story...
