So for the first time in a few years mother was able to go instead of listening on the phone...
If I take notes I miss stuff, If I just listen I miss stuff, comme ci comme ca....
Remember a bit about these two.
HH, Matt 7. Jesus did not teach us to not judge, he taught us how to judge righteously. But Fix yourself first before you try others.
You could have heard a pin drop...
JW, Jesus is our redeemer and our rescuer. a Redeemer pays the price, a rescuer goes and gets people.
Then went into a long comparison of the Chile mining cave-in rescue a few years back, with Christ.
They were there 69 days, they had some supplies down in there, tuna and water, they rationed it 1 spoonful each day per man. They were in a common rest area below. The mine was a spiral mine so they entered from above, not through a side into a hill mine entrance. There were 33 of them. About 1/2 mile down. The mine company had many violations for safety and never fixed them for quite awhile. The first tunnel to them was 9 inches across, after several other tries. When it reached their area some called for silence so they could hear and see where it would come through. This brought a camera, light, microphone for communication. And more food and supplies and medicine. That took 17 days. The second tunnel was 24 inches across, and was not straight down it had several curves in it. 4 people went down to them through the 24 inch shaft. The first was Manuel a fellow miner. He and the others brought even more supplies especially meds for the trip up. They had lots of worries and questions about if the 24 inch wide cage would work.
Christ is our rescuer he came down to save. Help will come from above. He will bring all what we need to escape. Under the law of sin and death, there is no hope. Under Christ there is. It may seem impossible to be saved. Under Christ nothing is impossible. Some resist with who what why how and where on being saved. There were several others thing, that I don't remember, but if I do, will add here.
A woman was near the ocean, and a wave started to sweep her out to sea. All she remembered was a big, long, black arm grabbing her. She never took steps to find out who saved her.
Another woman on hearing that Christ pays the price for our sins. Said, we can or should be able to pay for our own. Which it was replied, yes you can, in eternal darkness forever.

Wow that exposure ought to seriously trigger the down under contingent They claim that messages like that are not preached any more

Wally,
If that is the kind of worker you listen to and believes he/she knows what Jesus meant, it explains why you don't understand what Jesus meant either.

Jesus taught how to judge with compassion, empathy, mercy. I like the way NLT puts it: John 7:24 Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly.

Wally, the O.T. was written in Hebrew. The N.T. was written in Greek.
Hebrew scholars spend their entire lives reading, looking at semantics, linguists, context, audience, purpose, connotations, culture, etc., etc. No worker would ever have the time or the background to come even close.
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls changed some of the interpretations of the OT in the KJV. In academic circles the NIV is the most authentic text.

I personally use the NIV. I do have an 8 translation bible plus the Ryries.

WHY? Does quoting relevant scripture send the 2x2;s into sometimes a nasty response??

I was advised it would preferable that I do not "Bring a friend and his family" to Special Meetings? WHY? "Because they were not Gospel meetings". I thought that the greatest story on earth was for "all"occasions,24/7?. OH no!! You can't get saved, you can go to hell during Convention season, can't you. Lazy evasive lot aren't they?? Deny that??

I know workers in some non-English speaking countries use the NIV because the KJV is so difficult to read. I took a box of them with me to Paris for the workers to give to people there.

Well, I’m glad that those Workers have some common sense. Reading the NIV Bible is very helpful. Believing the 2x2 doctrine of salvation via crazy rules isn’t very helpful (nor is it salvation).

Did I say that the OT wasn't in Hebrew? or the NT not in Greek? I do give a nod to the NIV but the best is the KJV. You do realize people might go to college and learn stuff before they are ever a worker?

The KJV is the more reliable simply because it is based on the Majority Text (which are based upon over 5,000 New Testament manuscripts).
The NIV and other new age renditions are based on the Minority Text (which are based upon mainly 2 corrupted New Testament manuscripts).

KJV is very difficult to understand for a second language person to read with the 16th century English usage, words and so on. So, I too have NIV and it has helped me a lot to understand what is written when I read the KJ Bible.
