Get out of your bubble. America is not the only country in the world, they need to learn how to spell in English.

It's probably advisable for you to not visit your grandchildren, if you have any. Children can't get vaccinated yet, and I'm not sure you'd be so proud of yourself if you pass it on to one of them. You do know that the virus is still as deadly as when it began, don't you? But you do have something to be thankful about. You still have the freedom to drive on the left hand side of the road if you decide to -- as long as you're into death defying risk taking.
If I had the flu, I wouldn't visit anyone, likewise with covid, that's just common sense. I don't have the freedom to drive on the left hand side of the road, its against the law.
To me, wearing a seat belt is a safety precaution required by law. But wearing a mask when you've been vaccinated is equivalent to wearing a seat belt in a parked car, totally unnecessary.
Dan, you have a weird way of comparison. Actually they are logical fallacies since they are not comparable.

If you clawed your way out of your echo chamber of misinformation you'd realise that people with Covid are infectious before they know they have it. You'd also know that wearing a mask is largely about protecting others, and vaccinated people can still transmit the virus. But doing sensible stuff like wearing a mask would inhibit Dan's freedom to infect others. But then, -from Dan's posts I get the impression that he doesn't seem to care much about what happens to other people.

Thanks to people like Dan who lacked the discipline to beat the virus overseas, we now have a lockdown in New Zealand. Most people will comply, without all the cry-baby whining about "attacks on our freedom". What happened I thought in the Holy Land of New Zealand everything and everyone were under control? We've discovered this virus in our community and we treat it as an enemy. We're on a war footing just now to isolate and stamp it out. www.health.govt.nz/news-media/media-releases/health-officials-are-investigating-1-new-case-covid-19-communityA hard and early response is the best tool to stamp out any potential spread and everyone in New Zealand is asked to stay calm, be kind and play their part while we gather more information on the potential case.

Fun fact - The United States of America does NOT have an official language! Mere technicality... According to U.S. English, the following states have existing official language laws on their books: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming. A small handful date back more than a few decades, such as Louisiana (1811) and Nebraska (1920), but most official language statutes were passed since the 1970's. usconstitution.net/consttop_lang.html

But then, -from Dan's posts I get the impression that he doesn't seem to care much about what happens to other people.
Depends on ones perspective doesn't it? If you still had a mortgage, car payments, etc, but were not allowed to work and couldn't fulfill your financial obligations, would you consider the people responsible for your predicament to be nice caring people? Life can't be brought to a screeching halt for people who have responsibilities in life, and I just can't afford to hide in my basement for a year because my government is afraid I'll catch the sniffles. The whole notion has been absurd to me from the onset. People have lost their businesses, their jobs, their homes, have gone bankrupt, and even committed suicide over this stupid virus.. Its enough already, there's comes a point when you've got to man-up, stop hiding, and get on with life. You can take care of yourself without being a wimp and imposing your restrictions on everyone else. If your afraid, stay secluded at home, but don't demand that everyone else on earth do likewise just to facilitate your irrational fears. I have no problem with people who choose to live in isolation and remain masked for life, it would just be nice if they'd extend the same courtesy to those who aren't scared to death, prefer to take a 1% risk of getting sick, and cherish their freedom over self-imposed incarceration.

I tend to minimize for dramatic effect .... Although, there have been some younger people who've had covid and didn't even know it until they were tested.

When you don't agree with someone's opinion, its generally not going to be complimentary to you. No one is insisting that you don't take a vaccine or wear a mask all the time, so why are you compelled to subjugate them to your will and deny them the same liberty that you have? A bad attitude might be described as someone who demands that everyone else complies with what they think is best.

Verna is right Dan. Your language conveys your attitude.
Your attitude towards your fellowmen comes through loud & clear.
That attitude is 'the hell with others, -all I care about is ME!' It was obvious from the beginning of your posts and you haven't changed.

That's simply a gratuitous comment by someone who demands that everyone submits to what they think is right.. And when they don't, you label them selfish.
You essentially want me to lock myself up so you can feel safe... That's no consideration towards others... That's all about you.

I meant that it’s not complimentary to you - as in it doesn’t make you look good(ie kind, bright etc) when you call something that has killed people and caused much heartache (and continues to) the “sniffles”. But obviously we are of different minds. Like I said before there is no point in explaining it to you. Many have tried to no avail. I’m not interested in a sparring match. I would suggest you leave it to the professionals - but you won’t because you apparently know better.

A bit of hyperbole, yes.... Pity, no.... I'm not the one wallowing in self-pity like the extremist who demand non-vaccer's be subordinate to their every whim. If you've got inoculated, your safe, so stop bellyaching and remember to send a thank you note to President Trump for expediting the vaccines that are protecting you. Your not going to die, so its way past time to stop crying in your beer.

If you've got inoculated, your safe, so stop bellyaching and remember to send a thank you note to President Trump for expediting the vaccines that are protecting you. Your not going to die, so its way past time to stop crying in your beer. Trump is a selfish spoiled brat. He could have been vaccinated publicly as an example to many of his crazy base who whine about the vaccine. Trump didn't make any difference to the vaccine rollout, other than to agree to buy 100 million doses if the FDA approve the vaccine. Other countries started vaccination before the US. THE FACTS: Pfizer notably did not accept government money to develop, test or expand manufacturing capacity under Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative to quickly find a vaccine and treatments for the disease sweeping the country.
In fact, Pfizer partnered with the vaccine’s original developer, Germany’s BioNTech, in March and the following month announced the first human study in Germany. The White House announced Operation Warp Speed in May.
Pfizer opted not to join Operation Warp Speed initially but is following the same general requirements for the vaccine’s development as competitors who received government research money. The company says it has risked $2 billion of its own money on vaccine development and won’t get anything from Washington unless the effort is successful.
“Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine development and manufacturing costs have been entirely self-funded,” Pfizer spokeswoman Jerica Pitts said this week. “We decided to self-fund our efforts so we could move as fast as possible.”
However, Pfizer did sign an agreement with the U.S. government in July worth $1.95 billion — if the vaccine pans out and is cleared by the FDA — to supply 100 million doses. That guarantees Pfizer a U.S. market, an important incentive.
The supply side of Operation Warp Speed also allows Pfizer logistical help, although the company will directly ship its own vaccine, while the government will control shipping of other COVID-19 vaccines.
Pfizer’s announcement does not mean a vaccine has been approved and will immediately hit the market.
The next step for Pfizer would be to apply for “emergency use authorization” by the Food and Drug Administration, probably later this month, which would allow for limited distribution before it seeks full FDA approval for wider use by the general public in 2021. Neither step is guaranteed to happen.
