Murder number 1 out of 3 happened in our lives

Murder #1 small preview . Time frame 1998 We lived in the hood . This was prior to sobriety My girls have rules , but their mom is so busy working and drinking , they really just do what they want . 90% of the time , the worst thing they are doing is smoking weed . I gave my children that option , but only around me . I am not around . I could be out of town for months .They did have a parent figure . A nurse we had known for years . A good friend !

I am dumb enough to think 🤔 all they are doing is weed . No biggie , oh how wrong I am .
The night of the horrific fight their other minder is working overnight shift .

The kids have said they were going to a rave . Not unusual as I knew where .
However there is a turf fight lined up which we were not aware off .
My youngest has been hiding a knife for a friend .

That knife is brought out of hiding , so it was to be used if this even went wrong . They were prepared as were the opposition .
Around 1 am there are police in our neighborhood multiple police , EMS and fire department . The helicopter was flying and I had a terrible feeling .
The kids caretaker is working in emergency . My mobile phone lights up from her calling and calling me .

At this time my girls had not spoken of their CSA :
They respected their Grandparents choice . We tried to keep so many secrets away from them .
However the paper stated my youngest’s name . Against the law number 1 and their grandparents open the paper to read and are shocked . Then the explanation of that nightmare is discussed .
I purposely didn’t say much to my mom and dad .
I wouldn’t bring my drama to their home .
We sued the paper as she was only 14 . Illegal to print her name .

These are difficult things to remember and relate. You are wise and brave to confront
these dreadful things in writing. Writing is a very good way to organize one's difficult
understandings.

My poor father . He would shake his head and try to grasp what was happening now . How did this train 🚂 go off this track .
Many times he shook his head , but he never wavered his love to us .
