I think the GOP needs to wake up and realize that they are losing their people because they are liking what Biden is doing. Allowing the crazies in the party media time is just making the face of the GOP appear like a bunch of crazies that believe in Q Anon conspiracies. However, it will just do the Republicans harm in the long run and that's not such a bad thing imo. Great to see you back Snow. How are you? A few months ago Biden said something along the lines of "America needs a strong Republican party". I appreciate him for that. For the Republican party to be strong and effective it will have to be purged of extremism. To have QAnon believers amongst its infuential members makes the Republican party unelectable. Yes, we do need a strong Republican party!
We work best with two strong parties.

We work best with two strong parties. Hear hear! I worry about the extremism coming from both parties. Conservative extremism is especially obvious when the surrounding conditions call for progressive and dynamic ideas/solutions (say, a pandemic for instance). And (as I feared), when conservative extremists finally are goaded to action, they plan, train, and coordinate. It's less frequent, but more deliberate than liberal extremists' actions. We need a 2 party system in which the two parties generally agree on most things, and where "compromise" doesn't equal "losing". This zero-sum game we've been playing is ripping us up.

Good post Ipse. The main parties need to be near the middle of the bell curve. In New Zealand we benefitted from the main parties agreeing on some things over the last few decades, while we're suffering from the lack of agreement on other things that were needed.

I've been told there was a time when fierce political debate served as a catalyst for negotiations. I think the memory of that died in the US with John McCain.

It's easy to blame the politicians...but the politicians are a function of the people who elected them.

Did you feel the Senator was being false? Was he trying to ask for people to investigate before they shoot from the hip? Did he want other to come forward and join him? etc. I posted because I was being ironical because I thought the video would show just the opposite of how I was stating it. No I didn't watch the whole thing. My bad.

I'm doing pretty good. Thanks fixit. Yes I agree with Biden that there needs to be a strong Republican party. One that has thought about what they can do for their constituents and how they can help them. The Republican party now has no policies of their own. All they seem to do it criticize and try to block anything the Dems do. That doesn't work for a country. A strong democratic country needs a strong opposition that also has the best interests of the public in mind and good well thought out solutions to present as alternatives to the other party. Politics seems to have become a game of blocking anything the other party puts forward instead of acknowledging the good ideas of the other party and voting for it because it makes the country a better place for everyone.

However, he went on to say American is not a racists country. Also, how he was a senator one generation from a share cropper family.

I recommend "Unity", a book by Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott. Trey references this in this address/sermon, which is great listening for Christians.

Thanks Prags for posting that wonderful video, much food for thought.
What unites us is far greater than what divides us.
Unity is Strength, Division is weakness. “Unity is Strength” means Unity is the biggest power for people who cooperate with others, you cannot do all the things alone, you need help and support.
Crying shame that the Christian Church became so divided because of the folly of Humans. How much stronger it would have been if it had of remained a single, united Church.

Then it must be popular. Perhaps people are getting common sense at last.
