If Trump was president and the numbers were looking as good as they are right now, you would say the economy is booming.

American inflation seems to be cooling, and in a way that the US Fed will like. While overall PCE inflation was unchanged at 2.6%, their core PCE rate came in lower than expected at 2.9%, down from 3.2% in November. Remember this was running at almost 5% a year ago.

And all this happened while personal spending rose in the December quarter, and by more than anticipated. Higher activity and lower inflation is a goldilocks outcome. 'Real' personal consumption is +3.2% higher than a year ago - that's after inflation!

And to add to the vibe, personal income has come in +4.2% higher that year-ago levels on the same 'real' basis, showing households are more than keeping up with inflation.

December American pending home sales also rose rather strongly in December, up +8.3% from November to finally to year ago levels by +1.3%. They haven't had a gain like this outside the pandemic period since early 2017.

It's certainly better than it has been for most of his presidency.

4.2% increase in income is awesome. It helps to offset the record inflation over the past couple years.

What is awesomer? The 6.8% increase with little to no inflation coupled with energy independence we had in 2019 under Trump.

It's trending down under Biden even though he's forgiven student debt etc and made steps towards a green economy.

Odd little jump between 2018/2019 and 2020. Likely the effect of a virus which gutted everyone's GDP. The economy seems to have rebounded nicely under Biden though. At the rate he's going, it'll be back to Trump-era levels in... 8 years or so.... though if the rate is reflective of true "post pandemic" numbers (ie '21-'22), it'll be more like 16 years. So he'll need anywhere from 2 to 4 additional terms, based on the current rate, to get back to Trump's economy.
We could speed it up a bit with some more wars I suppose.

Kind of hard to know what would've happened in 8 years with a booming US economy. Bill Clinton gave us a surplus instead of a deficit with a strong peacetime economy.

Clinton of course was extremely fortunate to govern when the US was an unparalleled superpower and was experiencing a housing and internet boom. He didn't inherit the legacy of 20 years of failed foreign policy and forever wars like Trump. So many variables.

If people believing that Trumps peacetime economy could eliminate the debt are gullible, what adjective best describes people who think Ukraine could win a land war with Russia? Both scenarios seem far fetched, but only one of them doesn't get half a million people killed.
