I saw this question the other day, and I thought about it, then I decided the question should be "DO ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIED KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING ON EARTH?"
I mean … not everyone is going to heaven. So, I question: DOES 'ANYONE' WHO HAS DIED, KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING ON EARTH?
Revelation CH 6 speaks about the Martyrs in heaven when it says " … I could see, beneath the altar, the souls of those who had been killed for the sake of the Word of GOD and because of the faithfulness of their witness. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, " How long, O LORD, holy and true, until you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth …?" REV: 6:9
To quote Pastor Greg Laurie: " … Those Martyrs have died, they've gone home to be with the Lord, they're with Jesus in the present heaven, and this is their present state of mind. Aren't they clearly remembering their lives on earth ..?"
and as Pastor Greg Laurie says: " … Some say that of all the things we remember about our lives on earth after we die, surely we don't remember the "bad" things … well how much worse can it be than to have been murdered ..?"
I do like too how Pastor Greg Laurie explains that GOD obviously has not brought about judgement on the earth yet, because of the questions in the cry of the Martyrs.
Pastor Greg Laurie doesn't mention though the people who do not go to heaven when they die … I'm wondering can they too see what's happening on the earth?
This is something I contemplate often … can my deceased love ones, and people who I grew up with in the truth who have all died, still see what is happening upon the earth? Can they see ME and what I do every day?

its unclear to me whether or not they see whats going on....there is not a lot of scripture to go on for this condition...
in the story of the rich man and lazarus abraham could see who was in hell he called the rich man "son" so if they could see into hell across the great gulf and recognize people it might be the can see down to earth too....

Growing up I wondered about that. What if you see those you love sinning and jeopardizing their salvation? If you are a believer, of course. Wouldn't that be a terrible thing?

Growing up I wondered about that. What if you say those you love sinning and jeopardizing their salvation? If you are a believer, of course. Wouldn't that be a terrible thing? Well, this I do know. If I was in heaven and was able to see those in hell suffering, heaven would just be hell. So I would think that for all practical purposes, happiness and peace of mind etc., it's unlikely those in heaven can see anything. It would defeat the purpose imo.

I don’t think people know what’s going on while in heaven. I see the questions of the martyrs as has the just Judge made his great white throne judgment or is time over. The reason I say that is because they were told that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow martyrs should be joining them. They’d been given white robes as a sign they were safely in eternal life.

** According to Jesus teaching in Luke 16 under the OLD Test. covenant, Before he died for the believers sins on Calvary.
Both believers and unbelievers souls went to Hades= Realm of the dead waiting there to sentenced after the judgment Day before God.
There were those in the Old Test. such as Adam, Eve, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac , Jacob, Moses, king David, the prophets had put their FAITH and TRUST in Christ/God their Messiah would come and set them free from Hades/prison.
There were two places where the souls LIVE in Hades! The rich man/unbelievers stay in the place of torments, regrets, sadness. He could see Lazarus from a distance but was able to talk to Abraham. The rich man could NOT come and be with Abraham and Lazarus because the gulf was divided. Abraham's Bosom where Lazarus stayed with Abraham and with other Old Testament believers waiting for Christ/the Messiah to come and rescue them from this temporary dwelling place. AFTER Christ had paid the ransom priced to God the Father on Calvary's he was able to bring these Old Testament believers to His home in heaven/Venus.
The Rich man could and did NOT see what was happening on the earth with His own family. He asked Abraham to sent someone from the dead to warn his family about this dreadful place so, they would NOT end down here with him.
After Jesus died His Spirit/Christ went to Hades to set Free the Old Test believers from Hades and brought them to heaven/Venus where He lives. Jesus said to the apostles in John 14 "I go to PREPARE a Place for you, WHERE I am there you will be with me also!"
95 A.D. Jesus took John the apostle to heaven/Venus and show him His heavenly home and where the believers live. In the book of Revelation we read the Old and New Test. believers souls in heaven could NOT see what was happening on earth either. God told them to REST and wait for awhile before all of the will RETURN back to earth with Him to RULE and REIGN in their NEW resurrection bodies for 1000 yrs. Then they will celebrate the marriage of the Lamb in heaven, then they all go to the NEW heaven and earth God has prepared for them to be with Him, Christ, and the Holy Spirit forever more.

Nathan, just a question ... does the Bible say specifically heaven is in the planet Venus? If so, could you shoot me a reference?

Do you suppose God will live with eternal disappointment and sadness about the people in hell? If so, can his eternal abode be described as heaven? As you say, Snow, it seems that heaven would just be hell for him.
On the other hand, maybe he, the righteous judge, feels that the people in hell got what was coming to them, and he can rejoice in his own sense of righteous judgement, hell-dwellers be damned (so to speak.) If that's the case, then maybe those in heaven will be just like god - rejoicing in the damnation of the unrighteous.

God said the former things are passed away and remember no more because He makes all things NEW. God will wipe out all of the Old memories, the past from the believers minds. Rev. 21:4-5 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Didn’t Paul day for Christians not to rejoice over others faults/sins? I suspect as loving as Jesus is that there’s many tears he’s shed when a sinner dies without repenting. Remember he wept over Jerusalem.

Well it certainly seems like most Christians are just waiting for the day when they can prove everyone right. Doesn't seem like they'll be too fussed about atheists going to hell or any other religion that doesn't believe what they believe. I think a majority do feel that we would be getting what we deserve. Heaven sounds more like hell to me because I could never be comfortable knowing I was alright but a majority of humanity were suffering terribly forever. So the only way to prevent that in heaven is for 1. they don't remember that people they once loved are in hell suffering, or 2. They think that they had their chance, didn't take it, and are just getting what they deserve. But God wouldn't be able to 'not know' so he must either be suffering also for eternity or he just doesn't care like the rest that make to heaven, if they are fully aware of the suffering of others.

How convenient for you to not remember that those who don't profess will be in hell. That amazes me because didn't you say your family doesn't profess? How can you live knowing that they aren't going to heaven?

There really is no need to fret so much about any kind a hellish after-life.
History shows that many, if not most all, -religions have created the imagine of a place after death where we will be tormented if we haven't done as we were instructed by whatever particular religious obligation had been insisted on while we were alive.
I am not sure that we can ever outgrow those ideas I do see some progress made by some people, -but often it is a couple of steps forward then being dragged back at least one step. Then we have to try to creep forward again.
We have told ourselves so many tales along the way, -it is difficult to sift out the wheat from the chaff. Then even more difficult to accept the truth -because it so often goes against how we want to live. We would just rather continue to believe the old ideas because not only they are more familiar they also allow us to do just what we want.

Nathan, if people no longer have their memories - a large part of what makes them who they are, then they are not the same people. I've seen you post before that people will also get new bodies. New bodies and new minds means new people. So 'you' won't be in heaven regardless. ** Have you been to Hades/ realm of the dead and back to life and back? Jesus who had been to both places heaven and Hell and you have not either one. It works the other way too, Nathan. Have YOU been to heaven? If not, then you're just relying on a copy of a copy of a translation of a translation of ancient writings of men, who were so ignorant they did not know at the time where the sun went at night and have zero evidence to back up their claim of an afterlife, let alone a heaven or hell. The Bible is not evidence of heaven - it is a claim. One without any evidence to support it.
