This is a shock. We were excited to have him in our home in a couple of weeks...
Dear Friends,
We received this news this morning about LaRon's passing. It is quite a shock because we have just been with him these last days. In the Meeting on Wednesday night, he humbly showed great appreciation for the Word of God again, drinking it in with all his heart & soul. We were looking forward to hearing him in the afternoon meeting tomorrow, and yet, we know his life will continue to speak.
We also received word yesterday morning that Dixie Diedering of East TX passed away. Funeral will be 10am Monday, Feb. 4 at Cottie-Pearson Funeral Home, 905 South Commerce, Overton TX. The visitation will be Sunday night 4-6pm.
The adjusted speaking lists for tomorrow looks like this. Thanks for your thoughts. We look forward to coming back to Houston before long!

LaRon Branson's Funeral- Just a few notes, not complete, of the essence of LaRon's going away. So touching, so down to earth, yet so respectful, to be in heaven for all eternity. We will miss you LaRon. Corrections to my notes welcomed. Please look up the scriptures as I will not be able to type them all out.
Laron Branson began in the work in 1955. He was in Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and then NM and Texas from 2002 until this day. All sang hymn 408 "No Reputation" Doug Murray prayed and ended with Help us to remember the Harvest Field.
Loren Quick spoke- John 10:41 no miracle but spoke true. Acts 4:13 Saw boldness, marveled been with Jesus Phil 2:14 - do all without murmuring, blameless :19 trust in Jesus, be of good comfort, no man like minded who will ... Hard to speak at a funeral of our friend who would not want us talking about him! John the Baptist said not miracles but safe. LaRon's spirit told us about Jesus. Humility. What I should be. We have no excuse to not know what a spirit of service is. LaRon's joy these last months, hearing his prayers as if talking to God and no one else was in the room. Peter and John had been with Jesus. How many times did you know that LaRon had been with Jesus. The way he spoke, or served in your home, you couldn't get ahead of him if a "job" to do. We are so happy for him though we mourn. No ties to this earth! LaRon was fretting over speaking in the Sunday meeting - he didn't have to! He saw places to serve. He never thought " these younger boys ought to do this". Of our time together he'd try to do my laundry, but not let me do his, he would say oh you have better things to do. Scripture says do all things without disputing. When we are filling our place it is nice when we don't have to be put back in our place! Doing all without murmuring. No man like minded - LaRon's nature to care for you. A little struggle in LaRon's heart was wanting you to grow and help each other be what we ought to be.
Psalm 34: 1,2,3 as if LaRon doing. Loren read the verses. LaRon did this. LaRon's expression of thankfulness was always. In the later meetings he would say I don't have anything to tell you, but he did. fresh. he would tell of the power of the gospel. Let's lose ourselves and forget about ourselves. We are not aware of his favorite things. He did not have favorite things like Starbucks and as some of us do. Not much, but did you know anybody happier? anybody with more peace? anybody more satisfied to be in his place? He grieved he was holding the rest of us back. His spirit made the united effort of our ministry richer. He gave himself for Jesus sake, and your sake and my sake. He would leave with us these words "O Magnify the Lord with me". The workers then all stood and just the workers sang hymn 404 - There is no gain but by a loss -many stated it was just like hearing angels sing - tears flowed.
Carl Hamilton spoke - Psalm 19: 1,2,3 Carl read those verses. The constancy of LaRon's life. He was spoken to in youth by the God of Heaven. He expected to just serve and said he was a servant. We appreciate the power of a person willing to be satisfied as a servant. Laron spoke nice helpful words from the scripture but a voice beyond words leave us all without excuse, it tells us rightly the pattern of His life behind that voice. He knew the constancy of time with God. He was often seen on his knees. Thinking of jobs that needed to be done but God came first. He never thought of himself being an example to others just served and service to all. A voice urging and watching him read the scriptures. Time he spent with God you heard and saw the result. Blessing of his spirit. A long time ago 60 yrs ago our family stood beside a casket of a brother worker killed. A sister worker said I never thought I'd have to live without his counsel. To think of going forth without the counsel of LaRon's spirit and his being in our midst.. The bond between that sister and brother worker. Bond to magnify their efforts. Trusted and deep respect. Unspoken and yet meant so much.
Thankful the Lord's servants are bonded with one another to help our service be strong and sure. Lyle Schober spoke- John 19 The Jews answered Pilot, by law He ought to die because He made himself the Son of God. speaking of Jesus. Does anyone make them self a son or a daughter? Jesus could say God himself made I the Son of God. Who we are? Who makes us who we are? LaRon did not make himself anything. He didn't make himself a servant. He was made like a servant by God himself. If not for God the man we see lying here today would be totally different. God who made LaRon like he was can make us like Jesus. We would like to be like LaRon but it comes at a cost, and will come to us if we pay the same price. Jesus could have said not me, or I offered myself, but he said not a thing. LaRon didn't rust out but wore out. It was the Lord that made LaRon and could make us more like our master. We will miss LaRon. At the mortician a woman said " I am sorry for your loss" I said I am not sorry, he has been a great help. We are thankful he can go and be with the One he loves. LaRon is speaking a message today and if I stay out of the way LaRon's life gies a sermon of Jesus. I never say LaRon in a inappropriate way. Yes his mind was failing, but he never ever spoke one inappropriate word of anything. God's work.
The apostles saw and realized Jesus left and the story not done and saw Him rise and go to heaven. Learned from LaRon, a man passes away, what do you do with his belongings? A big correction to me, LaRon had less and less. He carried a small bag, needed little, didn't take long to sort out his things. Some letters were unopened. So we did not open the letters. LaRon received a lot of letters and was so thankful for them and thankful for your care. Amazing the number of physical letters he got, more than I. Maybe because he was not into phones and corresponding that way. The opened letters we saw were signed Much love, We love you very much, over and over and over. LaRon was very much loved, we all loved him. The disciples returned to Jerusalem full of joy, mourned Jesus passing, but thankful to be with Jesus, like we were LaRon.
No one would any of our brother workers have rather been with as a co-worker than LaRon, myself included. Philippines 2: 1 I there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if ...:2...:3 let each esteem other better than themselves. :5 Mind be in you which is in Christ Jesus No reputation with Jesus I go. LaRon came to me and said " I am very happy to be i the work. But if you ever feel I am holding somebody back let me know." To get the blessing to be with LaRon even for a whole year was ok. "Esteem others better" - 3 of us were together this year with LaRon. He would say no you and Brad have the meeting. Even if he only prayed it was more effective. LaRon would be horribly embarrassed if he knew we were talking about him. The emphasis should be on God. The same God that made LaRon made us and can make us. Who will take the place of LaRon? We need workers willing to give and give and serve and serve. LaRon made himself available to God. II Corinthians 8:9 The grace of our Lord Jesus though he was rich made himself poor. Jesus was rich in heaven. You through the poverty of LaRon have been enriched. Humbles me - the loving, cheerful service of LaRon. All sang hymn 317 words in the brochure. Sweet is the Rest Brad Wilson closed in prayer.
