I believe there are 14 places in the Bible that tell that Jesus prayed all night. If Jesus needs to pray all night then what about us??? I've made my prayers short most of my life due to the statement in the Bible about ' … our many words …" when we pray … that we think GOD Will hear our prayer because of our ' much speaking' and saying LORD LORD as a hypocrite. Now, after reading that Jesus prayed all night several times I wonder if it is a good idea for us to do that too? Which leads to a couple of questions … What was the purpose of fasting? Should we fast? I mean … even if it's a thing of the past … could it hurt anything to fast once in awhile, and could it do any good with our relationship with GOD to fast?

fasting is good for you i hear it cleans the body of impurities...i myself have never fasted though...
we had a worker once go on a fast and lost his mind for awhile..so becareful when fasting....
prayer is an individual thing take all the time you need...i keep mine short and focused...and after all these years i still can't clear my mind for more than a minute or 2 for silence....silence is important and i wish i could do better that way....

Magpie doing a quick review of fast or fasting i could find no NT commandment for it, i do find a few verses acknowledging it does occur...and one should note the pharisees and saducees were pretty upset with Jesus disciples for NOT fasting so go fig'r...

Many black people don't like the "fake" minister Al Sharpton. Why is it that people like you always pull out the race card anytime someone says something discrediting towards a black person? Black people as well as other races frequently say insulting things against whites and laugh about it and not one thing is said about their being racist. I didn't consider it racist and I have many black friends. I dated a black woman in California she went to meetings and professed; but, yes DMMICH I thought it was funny!!! Now why are you always attacking everything I say ... this reminds me of Hillary and Trump. lol .... gimme a break already.

1. hunger strikes:
- hunger strikes are usually done by people who are protesting an injustice.
2. Al Sharpton:
-Al Sharpton is a black American civil rights activist 3. Someone stated the the hunger strike should continue "indefinitely" : -(meaning until the person is dead.)
-The 1981 Irish hunger strike was the culmination of a five-year protest during The Troubles by Irish republican prisoners in Northern Ireland. - On 5 May, Sands died in the prison hospital on the sixty-sixth day of his hunger strike, -In the two weeks following Sands' death, three more hunger strikers died.
4. people "cracking up!": (laughing)
-should those deaths be a "laughing matter?"
Jetmech and wally, do you think those deaths be a "laughing matter?"
Jetmech and wally, if you don't think their deaths were to be something to laugh at, -why not?
Because they were white but this man is black?

Where did your information come from that Vieques was "uninhabited island?" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_in_Vieques,_Puerto_Rico#Contamination_and_health_effects
Contamination and health effectsA survey by the Puerto Rico Health Department revealed that the cancer rate in Vieques is 27% higher than mainland Puerto Rico. In a 2001 federal lawsuit, Vieques’ environmental groups and residents accused the Navy of causing “more damage than any other single actor in the history of Puerto Rico”.The prosecutors stated that the Navy's activities contaminated much of the eastern portion of the island with a wide range of toxic substances. As cited by Franciscans International, according to the Navy's figures, throughout the course of six decades about 5 million pounds (2,000 t) of ordnance was dropped on Vieques every year. Ordnance included toxic compounds and elements such as arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium, depleted uranium and napalm, and tons of a fiberglass-like substance. Most of these toxins are persistent, meaning that they bioaccumulate. For decades environmentalists have complained that contaminants from naval exercises have spread to other parts of the island though the air, water, and soil. The people of Vieques live downwind from where the bombing was done; -thus toxins that can be airborne — such as depleted uranium — could easily come in contact with civilians. Representative Charles Rangel, (United States Democratic Party, New York, investigated contamination in Vieques and discovered that “A number of studies conducted by well-qualified scientists from universities in the United States and in Puerto Rico reveal that there is a high probability that the compounds released by the Navy exercises and chemical testing created toxic levels in the environment and could be the cause of serious medical conditions affecting the people of Vieques.”. from wiki

Well here we are. Note for God's flock(inc Wally & Nathan) . Matthew 6:16-18, When you fast do not look somber as the hypocrites do,for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their rewards in full. But when"YOU" fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting,WALLY, but only to your "Father",who is unseen;and your"Father",who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. .Wally there has been many good teachings (Teachers as mentioned in Ephesians 4;11-12)on this subject catch up with some, does our soul GOOD... Praying all night!! Living a Christlike life? And you haven't? And Wally never fasted? Why Wally? It is Biblical. But you are right the mind can deviate a bit, can't it.. Magpie Twenty-four hours fast is enough. Anything beyond that is punishing the body not helping the spirit either because when the body gets to needing fluids and/or sustenance, the mind and spirit get filled with natural needs and the spirit looses the connection. Might be okay to go beyond 24 hours if one would drink plenty of water. As to praying all night? When ones spirit is assailed with doubt and decisions of major issues, it might be helpful. With life being in the fast lane in these days, the mind likely wouldn't stay quietened long enough to cover the whole night. Perhaps being in instant prayer mode can be almost as helpful. Praying always in the spirit.

Al Sharpton went on a hungar strike some years ago while I was still working at AIR WISCONSIN AIRLINES and living in Wisconsin. Someone called WISCONSIN PUBLIC TALK RADIO and asked " ... is Al Sharpton still in a hunger strike ..?" The radio jockey replied " ... ah, yeah, I think he is ..." The caller said " ... well I think he should continue that hunger strike indefinetly ..!" I could hear people in the background cracking up! lol Anyway I'm diabetic too and fasting sounds to me like something that could be dangerous to a diabetic. The brain gets its energy from sugar, and I knew of a diabetic, 42 years old, whose sugar went too low and he passed out. It took too long for people to help him and this damaged his brain. He was retarded as a result and never recovered ... he was retarded the rest of his life and passed away a couple or so years ago. I don't think I'll be fasting. Try to eat something sweet, a piece of candy when your blood sugar is low... I try to have some cookies in a Jar by my bed, sometimes during the nights I could feel my blood sugar was getting low so I get up and eat two cookies then I went back to bed.

There are glucose tablets available these days. I've had lots of trouble with low blood sugar, or what medicos call hypoglycemia. It really upsets me because it happens but when I am away from home and I've had to pop open the milk jug in the middle of Walmart. Sometimes that works but not all the time so I got some glucose tablets and carry some in my purse at all times.

Why are they starving? In this day and age there is so much that can help divert such suffering. We blame God for starving or abused children? Why? Is it not because of humans or human behaviors or humans not purposefully trying to help themselves? It's just like the poor migrants coming to US of A, why don't they get together and take back their country? Why don't they use all this energy they're pouring out to migrate thousands of miles in which they know they are not welcome, to band together and rid their country of the drug cartels and change their governing bodies so that they can bring their country up out of the drags that it's in? The best thing our government can do to help them IS to stop the money assistance to the government of these countries and take that money to train these migrants how to protect, take back their country and to enable them to know how to do those kinds of things to feed themselves and to have a good prospective life. Things that they are pushing to get in America.
