That looks more like a photo from 1918, instead of 2018. I suspect the "ordinary man" viewing that photo would think; these women want to draw attention to their old time dresses. It's funny how overdoing the modesty thing works, yet I doubt they see it that way. :-) JMT

The 2x2s on this board have assured us that everything has changed and the professing women are now indistinguishable from the general public

Why do they dress like that still? I mean really, why? Why do they want to look like this? The men look no different from any other male today and the women look like they stepped out of a 1800's picture.

Kansas is one state who's clung the strongest to the 1897 two by two identifying physical look. And also even other things. They don't seem to want it to be any other way. Course it seemed for a while, that they were one state who produced more workers.

It was hard to tell for sure, but didn't look like very many "young" workers.

Some ex-2x2s will ALWAYS find fault of the workers no matter what! they say or do. I have heard complaints on here when the sister workers dress NICELY then they say.... Oh, many of the friends don't have money to buy such dresses like that.

It doesn't worry me how workers dress but: - most of the women in these photos always look like they have very short hair; and - the men would easily be mistaken for a group of Mormons I understand why they get these group photos taken (so they can be distributed to the friends) but if the staff team at church posed for a photo each year and distributed it to all the members at church, the members would be wondering what planet the staff team was on - Venus? But it would never be done, because the role of ministers is not to promote or uphold themselves. Their role is to point people to Christ. I've laughed before at the thought of asking our (unpayed, with families and full time jobs) pastors for a photo to display in our home, just the thought is asinine. And, if would be offensive to them, I don't doubt. For the reason Ross gave.

The fault is hypocrisy. A "poor homeless ministry" isn't in harmony with the clothing, meals, and accommodations that some workers "require" Not all workers are demanding in this way, many are wonderful examples of humility, but there are plenty of examples where the walk and talk don't match. A "one True way" and "true sent Ministry" isn't in harmony with going from friends home to friends home, and rarely actually evangelizing. There are more examples. However, I've learned that there is no way to discuss this well. If I were to make a general assertion, it would be said that I was either lying or deluded. If I were to provide specific examples that illustrate my assertion, it would be said that I was finding fault. If a man falls from the top of a tree, can I tell him he shouldn't have been "finding branches" on the way down? That his bruises are imagined?

What is interesting is that so often on here the 2x2 ministry get hammered for putting to much emphasis on the way their church members dress, and then someone puts a photo up and there is a whole thread from non members criticizing the way the ministry dresses.

No history work experience, bad credit score, no history of driver licence. Without the help from the friends and their family, the ex-workers would be living on the street. Jesus had no home of his own when he was a wandering preacher, he and his apostles received help from their followers and people. He was buried in one of his followers tomb. So, I say the workers live very much like Jesus and the apostles in the book of Acts. They stayed in the homes of their followers and eat the foods, which they provide, and give them money for their travels. I don't know what you are talking about the workers being hyprocrites the way they live.

The hems aren't all that off and the tops aren't different enough to comment on. I sometimes wonder where they get their blouses. Maybe they are coming back into style? I am seeing more of the style that was around when I was in my teens lately. Bell bottoms, halter tops and platform shoes. Kind of a different topic, but have you noticed that Emy?

Well Nathan I have nothing against the workers in general. I loved and respected most of the ones I grew up around and that hasn't changed for me. But the way the sister workers have to dress or want to dress, doesn't make any sense. There are plenty of nice modest outfits that are more up to date than that and they aren't any more expensive. In the Madagascar workers picture 2015 there is a sister worker there in a very nice suit outfit. So if some can look nice and modest and still up to date, why do they still cling to what they have worn since the group started in 1898? I asked the question wanting to know why they cling to that 'look' and I still want to know. I don't hate them because they dress like that. I don't dislike them because they dress like that, I just don't understand WHY they dress like that.

The workers have to be careful how they dress and what they possess, so it doesn't cause resentment by the friends or their co- workers.

The photos are the number one way of claim to noterity. This is part and parcel one of the ways the workers are getting their rewards and thus will, in the long run, cheat them out of rewards for good deeds in the eternal life. I've said many times people who coddle the workers are cheating them out of eternal deeds rewards.

Probably the biggest difference in the old photos compared to present day, is those workers were quite corseted. That made them all look like they were wearing empire waistline clothing. The waistlines have dropped due to fact corsets are no longer used. Though panty girdles are.

Well, I can give you examples of workers who have refused our food because they were into eating all healthy. I've had a worker, when asked if I had oats for her to make homemade cereal bars (we never use plain oats, but I had bought some special for this person, along with a whole host of organic foods that we can't usually afford) ask 'are those oats steel cut oats?' Turns out the steel cut oats were preferable. Have you read what you wrote about the workers who leave? How on earth is it not immoral to not financially support workers who leave, when they themselves sold all they had and gave to the "work" when they started out?

I am diabetic, and I didn't know that when I was in the work, so I ate anything and everything. Now, I have to take pills in the morning and insulin shots before bed time.
Have you read what you wrote about the workers who leave? How on earth is it not immoral to not financially support workers who leave, when they themselves sold all they had and gave to the "work" when they started out? I agree with you on that.... The last 25 yrs on here I have tried to alert the friends and workers that was immoral to leave the ex-workers high and dry after they GAVE their all and lives for the work... I heard about 15 yrs ago, that some overseers use the friends trust funds to help ex-workers financially so they can get on their feet.
