Yes, -it does have a lot to do with the topic we were discussing which was:
"The difference in how differently men and women think about what to do to feel "safe." This was snow's post."One I know of the guy first draws a line down the middle of a chalk board and puts a male symbol on one side and a female symbol on the other. Then he asks the men what they did today to make sure they would be safe from sexual assault.
The room remains silent. One man says 'stay out of prison'. But another is more honest and says, "I don't really think about it'.
Then he asks the women's side and they tell all the things they do.
Have a dog, carry mace, don't jog at night , carry their keys defensively etc.
It's so natural for a woman and a man doesn't have a clue that they do this all the time
It's something women are aware of all the time.
So until there is the same level of problem in both genders, the one gender that doesn't have to worry about these things, really can't know. Women should not have to do all these things just to be save from men, but we do and it's pretty much business as usual. Would things change if men were in this position every day?"
And the sad part is that the difference between men & women feeling safe is that women are thinking of having to be safe FROM men!
I remember when I worked 3-11 shift at the hospital and coming home at midnight. I was just automatically conscious of who might be in the area.
One night I had just got out of the car at home when I heard this MALE voice holler from the alley, -I just froze.
But it was just my son. I hadn't yet recognized just how much his voice had changed. It also was the first time I realized just how scary a man's voice could be.
wrong again...the difference between how men and women think has nothing to do with quality men...good try though The topic was how different men & women feel safe, -how they feel safe, not how they think.

A license is needed to drive a car and a license is needed to preform an abortion. FWIW - you don't need a license to ride in a car. The radiologist who I went to had a license but I climbed into the machine license free. Exactly. Murdering your fetus is government license. I wonder why government approved population centers over 50000. Anyone with any connection to the 2x2 knows piety flourishes in small or smaller communities. Communities, where you're not anonymous..... The sargeants escorting our tour of the prison praised susanville for it's family friendly community. Great place to raise kids. "Well right, it's not a ghetto off which you make you living", I think to myself. What is the role of government? Persons like Bob Williston who believe it should be limited to protecting minoities are deceived. It's to protect majorities, even from themselves. Thank God for religion. Wasps recognize three spheres of authority: Family government religion. The Family, as Jeff Sharlet illuminated that cult, didn't cause me to confess this. Don't kid yourself, Lee.
Piety doesn't flourish in small communities any more than in larger ones.
I live in a town of 2,150 people and under the "piety" hides just as much corruption as in any larger town.
Just fewer people know about it.

Sounds as it you have quite a lot of difficulty in maintaining a level blood sugar.
With your attitude toward abortion it is a good thing that you aren't a woman.
Pregnancy in someone with diabetes can be a real problem.
Diabetes Pregnancy Complications and Concern1. Preeclampsia (gestational hypertension or high blood pressure)* Women with Type 1 are predisposed to this because they often have higher blood pressure to begin with. 2 . Insulin resistance. During pregnancy, the placenta supplies a growing fetus with nutrients and water and produces hormones to maintain the pregnancy. In early pregnancy, hormones can cause increased insulin secretion and decreased glucose production by the liver, which can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). In later pregnancy, some hormones (estrogen, cortisol and human placental lactogen) can have a blocking effect on insulin, a condition called insulin resistance. As the placenta grows, more hormones are produced, and insulin resistance becomes greater. 3. Worsening diabetes complications. Any health issues with organs, glands, or your nervous system may worsen during pregnancy due to the increased difficulty of keeping blood glucose in the target range. 4. Macrosomia. Women with diabetes are more likely to have a larger-than-average baby. 5. Issues during delivery. This is often due to the larger size of the baby, sometimes necessitating a caesarean section or early inducement of delivery. A larger baby may also run the risk of shoulder dystocia, in which the shoulders of the baby fail to pass the pubic symphysis. 6. Birth defects. Largely the result of blood sugar levels that aren’t in target safe ranges, these include respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), cardiovascular issues, and problems affecting development of the brain, spine, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, limbs, and mouth. 7. Miscarriage (loss of the baby before 20 weeks gestation) or stillbirth (after 20 weeks). This may be due to possible birth defects caused by excessive sugar in the blood. foot note *eclampsia In Downton Abbey, an historical drama television series, the character Lady Sybil dies (in season 3, episode 5) of eclampsia shortly after child birth. In Call the Midwife, a medical drama television series set in London in the 1950s and 1960s, the character (in season 1, episode 4) named Margaret Jones is struck with pre-eclampsia, ultimately proceeding from a comatose condition to death. The term "toxemia" was also used for the condition, in the dialogue In House M.D., a medical drama television series set in the U.S., Dr. Cuddy, the hospital director, adopts a baby whose teenage mother dies from eclampsia and had no other parental figures available. So You, Lee, -are calling a woman a "murderer" who has a a very real chance of dying because she has diabetes and is pregnant?
Also eclampsia is just one of many problems that cause death from a pregnancy.
There is not the high mortality rate today that there was once but maternal mortality rate is still high.
About 830 women die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications around the world every day.
The World Heath Organization estimated that in 2015, roughly 303 000 women died during and following pregnancy and childbirth.
Although the rate is higher in underdeveloped countries, -it still happens in US & European countries .
This is something that those who are so adamantly anti-abortion, -like yourself, Lee, - never take into account.

Other recent male nominees have faced no such accusations, including Gorsuch, who graduated from the same prep school as Kavanaugh. There was not even a whisper about sexual misconduct, that I know of. I fail to see any "developing trend" that would scare off "quality men". If men are indeed are scared off, then we can fill openings in SCOTUS with quality women. There are plenty if them, and plenty of precedence for a single-gender SCOTUS.

Yes I do take this into account. I'm not strictly anti abortion. I'm anti the deleterious effects on people and society when abortion is scarely differentiated from birth control. I'm against the way the practice of abortion is characterized as a wholly private matter of individuals.

Urban sprawl cities are too big for people to take pride in their communities. A sense of community goes a long way to developing and maintaining character.

Try to see it this way: When A driver veered off the road and killed many people in NYC could you really say that the license was issued to allow running into pedestrians? Really, you need to stop twisting things. Do you have a reference for the 50,000 size for approval. Does this have to do with abortion? I believe Bob would agree it is to protect citizens in an even-handed way. Yep. The arts and buildings paid for by the masses that could least afford them - beautiful to experience. Let's remember that religion is only a sphere of authority for those who believe. I am surprised that you did not mention Warren Jeffs. He too was a strong supporter of the family and religion spheres but not so much on the government aspect.

After watching him rant and rave during the hearing and the look on his wife's face while she listened to him, I'm not sure I would put Kavanough in the same class as 'quality men'. If he does that in public, how much more so would he do that behind closed doors when things aren't going his way?

I'm against the way the practice of abortion is characterized as a wholly private matter of individuals. Many of the various types of birth control do cause abortions. Some contraceptives function as abortifacients. These include some IUDs, the morning after pill, and some forms of birth control medication. At what point do you feel an a woman should no longer have a say in what happens within her own body? How is it not a wholly private matter? Should there be public hearings when a woman wants to request an abortion?

Sex education and the availability of birth contraceptives helps. But, to no one's surprise, many conservatives do not want comprehensive sex education.

well as time progresses quality men are going to become afraid to deal with women on the chance they are going to be accused of rape which will screw relations for decades or longer...good luck finding a quality man ladies... Not sure how you define "quality men". I am guessing you and I would have different definitions. "Quality men" will, at a minimum, take women seriously, show a little humility, and listen and learn. (You failed a simple test of this above) They will have learned (or are open to learning) what "mansplaining" is, and they will try hard not to do it. A few men here on TMB have demonstrated this ability. Most, if not all of the loudest recent complainers have not. In my experience, "quality men" have always been in somewhat short supply. Thanks, Matisse! I had never known it by that name before!
Of course I knew what it was! We encounter it all the time.
Mansplaining (a blend of the word man and the informal form splaining of the verb explaining) means "(of a man) to comment on or explain something to a woman in a condescending, overconfident, and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner".
Author Rebecca Solnit ascribes the phenomenon to a combination of "overconfidence and cluelessness". Lily Rothman of The Atlantic defines it as "explaining without regard to the fact that the explainee knows more than the explainer, -often done by a man to a woman".
In its original use, mansplaining differed from other forms of condescension in that it is rooted in the sexist assumption that a man is likely to be more knowledgeable than a woman.
However, it has come to be used more broadly, often applied when a man takes a condescending tone in an explanation to anyone, regardless of the age or gender of the intended recipients: a "man 'splaining" can be delivered to any audience.
In 2010 it was named by the New York Times as one of its "Words of the Year". from wiki.
