"YOU DON'T FIT IN!"
-These were the words given to me from a Sr. Worker.
As with anything I do, say, hear or observe, I know the best resource for me to turn to is the Bible to see if they are just and correct.
What does the Bible say about "fitting in?'
James 2:9&10 - "but if you show partiality you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilt of all[/i]."
According to scripture, the Bible is clearly stating that there should NEVER be any partiality shown to any other human being, as the Lord of the Universe is an impartial God who shows NO PARTIALITY.
James, the author of this book even states," My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality."
We have NO RIGHT or AUTHORITY to tell another human soul that they do "not fit in."
James 2: 13 - "For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judment."
This clearly states that anyone who judges another, according to "whatever" standards of "fitting-in," is wholey unmerciful and will, in return, receive no mercy back to themselves.
For 'mercy triumphs over judment."
I take this as a sincere scriptural warning to anyone who tries to show partiality by telling someone else they do "not fit-in."
NO WORKER, pastor or ANY minister of ANY kind should EVER be telling another human being that they don't "fit-in."
That is NOT the fruit of the spirit of love.
When we receive the Lord, Jesus Christ, as the savior and propitiation for our sins, we are ONE in spirit, united by HIS HOLY SPIRIT, not by association with a certain body of people or by a pattern some ministers follow.
It is a lie to tell one they "fit-in" according to a standard or adherence to a ministry pattern or legalism (rules to be followed - spoken or unspoken).
Let me close with this scripture:
Eph 4:4-6 - "There is ONE body and ONE spirit, just as you were called in ONE hope and your calling: ONE Lord, ONE FAITH, one baptism: ONE GOD, ONE FATHER OF ALL: and through all, and in you [glow=red,2,300]all[/glow]."
There is one LORD who shows NO PARTIALITY. When you believe in Him who died and resurrected - the Jesus Christ who is GOD MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, who paid the penalty for your sins, you are ONE BODY - united by the Holy Spirit.
Amen and amen.

Don't feel bad. I have always been an alienated mis-fit. I have never been comfortable with any activities in a group-setting. I'm a loner. Whether it was back in my days growing up in a professing home, or in school, I participated as little as much as I could.
I sort of wish now that I had gotten more involved in the pot-lucks & the "sings"...it might have helped with my social development...if nothing else.

Wolves are also loners until the snow gets to deep then they pack up and work towards the goal

Maybe if I had gone to more pot-lucks and socialized with the professing kids more...I might have married some cute little professing chic...and I'd be happily professing today...and have seven kids (all professing) and three of them laboring in God's vineyards.

Amen, Prayhard.
Maybe that should have been taken as a compliment that you didn't "fit in". We'd all have thought less of you if you DID fit in.
C'mon you guys....give her a serious answer.

Fitting in is important--to most people. There are a few lone wolves who march to the beat of their own drum and are not concerned with the direction the majority takes. Jesus was such a person. Tradition for the sake of continuity meant nothing to him. Abiding in the will of God and living according to his word was everything. Most of us fall short of that example, and for some, tradition is everything. If a person is told in sincerity, "You don't fit in," it is probably better for that person to stay out, unless they are very strong and willing to stand out from others in the group.

Great Post Prayhard,
See folks, that is an example of someone asking, seeking, and knocking and receiving answers to her prayers from the Holy Spirit! You won't get that kind of knowledge sitting in a gospel meeting. Maybe someday you will. But there remains a flood of water to go over the damn before that happens. Enjoyed your post , Prayhard. No hardness or anger there. ;D

quote worth repeating: The only fitting in that any of us need to concern ourselves with is the emptying out of our will and spirit so the Spirit of God can fit into our lives to direct us. Amen. It's pretty simple. Give it try, prayhard. Now if it ain't fittin', it just ain't fittin'; it ain't fittin'......... There's no sense in tryin' to shove a size 6 shoe onto a size 9 foot. Is that the shoe's problem or the foot's problem. Hmmm. Maybe we could stretch the show to make it fit or shrink the foot [ouch] to make it fit. Pray~hard about it.........ask and it shall be answered, but it may not be the answer you were looking for. When you come to the realization that you have to obey something because you have no other choice.........and you know in your heart there is no other alternative.............you have probably met up with God's will. Not your own will by your own reasoning, but God's will. And THAT is a much higher power that ours. Don't worry about fittin' in anywhere. I don't. Consequently, I don't feel like I fit in with this world very well.....................

Amen. It's pretty simple. Give it try, prayhard.
I did. God lead me to know by the power of the words of scripture that I was to NOT be in bondage to legalism, nor affiliate with an organization that promotes it.
I listened and obeyed very well, thank you.
I lost a love, but it was worth it to not be under the rule of a group that promotes man and not the real Christ Jesus.

"the emptying out of our will and spirit so the Spirit of God can fit into our lives"
Where is this in scripture?
Is this similar to the nasty teaching of the workers to our parents that they should beat the crap out of their kids and call it beating their own will out of them so the spirit of God has room?

Just maybe it was a "sly" way of telling you, that you weren't gonna be part of your "friend's" family.
Indirect communication?

"So"
What do you think the written Word is for? To collect dust like many truthers do, until it is time to put together a quicky testimony for Sunday?
You read it regularly, you pray about it...you apply it.
Pretty simple.

I also am curious as to how "so" thinks the Holy Spirit works in people.

I also am curious as to how "so" thinks the Holy Spirit works in people. just the same way it works in people who can't read or write or are these people excluded? if you have not experienced that then you don't know the Holy Spirit working in your life. Period

Pretty simple. the word is for reading if you are fortune enough to be able to. the Holy Spirit reveals the content [meaning] of those words. then you pray for Gods help to apply the meaning of those words
