Yes, she was. Knew her in days of my youth and saw her not many years ago at convention in AK.

I too remember Marian Thorburn, from way back in my teens. This would be back in the 1960s in King county Washington.

We learn best when we hear things repeated.

Psalm 95:6-11: (In Call to Worship the Lord section)

6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Hear and let it take effect. The peoples’ heart was not right and they did not know His way.

There are 2 basic reasons for God to be in their lives:

1. Condition of their heart (there was error in their heart).

Psalm 78:37: (In God’s Continued Guidance in Spite of Unbelief section)

37 For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.

Serve the Lord with everything we have. The enemy of our soul would like us to divide that (or divide that for us by enticing us to love something just a little bit). Know His way at where we are today. When in distress – go to the Lord.

2. We need understanding from the Lord on how He would respond when we go through tough times (for Him to go through the same).

He knows that we do need wisdom.

Psalm 86:11: (In Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord section)

11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

Psalm 143:8: (In Teach Me to Do Thy Will section)

8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

Psalm 77:13: (In When Overwhelmed, Remember God’s Greatness section)

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

Hunters (worldly people / Satan, criminals, etc.) like to meet us at the door of the sanctuary. But, once we’re in- we’re safe.

Psalm 77:19: (In When Overwhelmed, Remember God’s Greatness section)

19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

Hebrews 11:4: (In Abel section)

4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

This is “a more acceptable faith that He had a more sacrifice.” With Convention – it’s good to get stirred up to have more faith.
