Thanks gill, I find the Amish fascinating. Have read quite a few books on their religion and lifestyle. I particularly like that they send their kids away when they get old enough to decide for themselves if they wish to live the Amish lifestyle. However, it is also can be quite abusive so in that way it's not ideal. If a child does decide to leave and not come back it can sometimes be an up hill battle getting even simple things like a social security number to work legally because some never were registered as being born and they couldn't get any documentation from their parents because they wouldn't have anything to do with them. It's also interesting how different their colonies can be. Some are allowed the big orange sign to indicate slow moving buddy and others can't even have that. Depends on their leader and can be different between two colonies that live in close proximity even.

my grandpa(moms side) was amish until he was 15 or so.... Menno? jacob....menno was like the 3rd youngest out of 11 i think...so he didn't remember much of it...

Their mother was a Walker; father an Eicher. Used to see them at Malcom every year. Three boys and a girl, I think...
