Who do you think was the greatest? From that list, I'd vote for Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, and Robert Mitchum in the top three actor category. Dancers: Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, of course. Gene Kelly for combination actor/dancer. Fred Astaire for pure dancing.

Were you named for Gene Kelly? In recent years, I have developed a keen interest in old movies.

Those who died young produced a morbid fascination among Hollywood fans.

I like Red Foxx also..Sanford and Sons. I like family feuds over some western gun slinging programs or movies.

Lots of interesting folks that have come through the studios of Hollywood. Glamour girls. Dysfunctional families. Tragedies. Funny people. Successful people and losers. Hollywood changed people...they would never be the same afterwards. Drama. Mysterious deaths. Divorce. A few successful marriages. Imagine life before Tinseltown! Before Vaudeville and the silent movies. Before Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, WC Fields, Fairbanks guy (forget his first name) and the first male celebrity that girls got a crush on...Rudolph Valentino. Valentino died of blood poisoning around 30 years old.

However, I believe you forgot to list Spencer Tracy in your list above who starred with Kathyrn Hepburn in so many movies. I loved him in that movie, "The Old Man and the Sea" as well as "Captain Courageous."

I admire the less attractive celebrities because talent and not looks brought them there. Jimmy Durante was pretty cool apart from his nose.
