Wow, so they are allowed to take caravans to Convention ... And just think of the value of some of those convention rigs.

And just think of the value of some of those convention rigs. Yes, many friends are wealthy in USA... We see their RVs at conventions for years. Sometimes, the convention ground can NOT accommodate their families to stay together in the sleeping/dorm quarters, but their RVs can. We have around 1200-1500 friends attend at Boring convention on weekends.
Friends come from California, Montana, Washington states, Idaho, and long distance with their RVs to our convention, it's comfortable transportation and convenience for the families to get to another state for convention.
Electricity provided for all trailers and motor homes.

I do know one family who had a motor home and went to five conventions in five weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the trailers/motor homes are bought for convention, and because they have them they take vacations with them.

Vans are allowed at conventions in at least one state in Aus. Not connected to the grid though that I am aware of.
It's a good idea so that families with small kids are not split up.

Wally, don't bring your RV to New Zealand, only a few are allowed, don't think you will be one of the privileged. Not the custom in New Zealand, you'll have to endure the snoring in the shed or the cold and rising damp of the grass floors in the tents, however there will be the endless coughing in the night. LOL

LOL Wally do bring you RV to NZ because i know you will be able to park it on grounds, actually our trailer/caravan/tent/RV park always has plenty parked in it. If i could afford to have one that is where it would be, but instead we like many others use local towns for accommodation.

It seems like Australia is headed in a similar direction with many staying in motels or van parks. It makes staffing breakfast activities more difficult as 'travellers' don't arrive till about 9am. However it has not always been like this - not so many years ago all were expected to domicile on the grounds and if you had to leave for any reason you needed to consult with the head worker. Those were the days when 'travellers' were regarded as fringe dwellers and missing out on so much more. Queensland's main convention has everyone travelling while management ponders whether they will build a new facility - there is some support for this but I feel a majority are happy to have their convention in a rented facility over two weekends (ie four days). A new facility would cost millions.

Nate - they've been going over there for a long time and nothing much has changed.... Clyde Mackay said to me a few years ago that just because something is done in America it doesn't mean it needs to be done here. I would say he really meant "If it's done in America we'll make sure it's not done here...." He did notice when he went to Europe though (because he preached about it when he came back) the symbols on the toilet doors - the women had a skirt on. His conclusion - even in France they know that women should wear skirts.... Oh well..... Yes, I know many of them have come to USA as visitors. It's hard to teach old dogs new trick. They don't like changes. They should encourage the overseers to step down at certain age... Their ideas, ways of doing things are out of step with the current time, it can hinder the friends spiritual growth. They should have overseers start around 50s like in California.

Wow, so they are allowed to take caravans to Convention ... This has become the norm in Canada and the US. It's like a status symbol. The bigger the rig, the closer you're getting to heaven. $$$$
