This isn't really about our dear Dmmich' - its about a widely held view of the bible in society today.
Quote - "When you think about the times in which that Jesus lived, how else could he have sent his 'ministers' out to preach except as itinerant? He had only created a roving itinerant ministry himself with no grounded (building) place of worship from which to sent out 'missionaries.' So, where else could he have "ate his last supper," accept in a home?"
So by this logic was must assume: Jesus rode a donkey, not out of humility, but because he wasn't allowed on a horse under Roman law. Jesus was humble because, well, what other mindset could he have given he was a poor Jew? Jesus rejected violence because under Roman law he wasn't allowed to own weapons, nor did he have his own army. Jesus forgave sinners because he didn't have the ecclesiastical power to impose penalties. Jesus wasn't a priest because he wasn't educated or qualified to hold such as position. Jesus rejected churches because he couldn't afford to build one himself.
By such means people try to "explain away" the bible. And if, somehow, they suceeded in making a happier and more honorable world - you would be tempted into thinking they were onto something.

GEEZE ! Now I have a bible of my own? Bert you are just too, too kind. But what do you think is wrong with my "logic" ? What is your answer for each of my quotes? "When you think about the times in which that Jesus lived, how else could he have sent his 'ministers' out to preach except as itinerant?

As for the rest of your post, I really can't take credit for any of that! I wouldn't want to in fringe on your own ideas. That would be plagiarism .
Maybe I should create a thread for you Bert, so you can get full credit for your own ideas. Do you have Jefferson bible, Bert?
PS: I have a lot of bibles & other religious books Christian and other religions, -Hindu, Mormon, many others on my on-line bookstore. I have one bible still in it's plastic wrap. I just sold a huge concordance and one new bible last week. Here is my book store.
FOR SOME REASON THE http:// fails to show up when I post so that will have to added. www.amazon.com/gp/shops/index.html?sellerID=AYGUIC3EFYOOV

If Jesus had said "God dwells in temples built with hands" I would have accepted your point of view. As it was he didn't. He made it clear that what he did was meant as an example for others to follow 1 - for all people, all time. 2 - for those of the ministry. And he told them those who have left all (children, homes etc.) would have many children and homes (by those who cared for the ministers) and those who gave up all to preach would deeply inspire many (corn of wheat parable.) God's ministry is not one when you go, purse in hand, to find a minister.
