I grew up in a divided home were my mother professed and my father didn't. It seemed that one was pulling one way and another was pulling another way. I started playing in a band early in life and got involved with alcohol. I seemed to love alcohol just like honey to a bear. Alcohol and I got along great. It answered all my problems.
I first professed at age of 18 at Nordale Hall in Prince Albert, Sask., Canada. I suffered from the effects of too much alcohol, and that was a factor in my professing early in life. Professing helped me stay away from the bottle, so somehow I accepted this new found venture of professing.
My 2x2 mother always told me that some day we're going to stand alone before God and give an account so, taking this seriously, I read my Bible.
We got on our knees at meetings in those days.
I did what I had to. I dressed up proper and respectable, and I could hear rumors that many thought I was a good Christian. I was staying sober, so I gave God the glory.
One of the workers said there is more to being a Christian then just giving up some habit. I did give God the glory for it. Honest!
Little did I know that down the road I was to fall away from the 2x2s twice over the bottle. Maybe I seemed to love the bar life, as well as the running and fooling around?
I professed for the third time in around 1987. I stayed with it till today. I have a computer and found the 2x2 websites about 5 years ago, but it has only been about a month now that I have decided not to attend any more meetings.
Now that I know the error of 2x2 doctrine, I am sold 100% on no longer attending 2x2 meetings. I'm glad to be out of such a screwed up family.
Perhaps if the 2x2s would have been honest I wouldn't have had so much trouble with the bottle. I blame 35 years on a screwed up 2x2 system that was always in error anyway!
I'm presently single. . . always have been. . .never married.
Peace,
