Yes all those herbs I bought for chooks had medicinal and or edible properties. I heard the other day if you suffer insomnia. Eat an apple 2hr before bed to sort out digestive track. Just b4 bed zap some lettuce. It helps you to sleep. Naturopath. What is this "zap" you speak of? Lol..my magic wand? Nutribullet? Blender? Turning solid into liquid.

The hummingbirds have now fully arrived! They sure put on a show at the feeders!
For anyone who doesn't know, to make their nectar, boil a little over a quart of purest water, measure 4 cups of hot sterile water, and combine with one cup of pure cane sugar until fully dissolved. Chill and use making more, 'cause you are gonna need it!
They will get so they will let you know when your feeders are out, and multiple feeders seem to work best for me, producing lots of customers!
Ma'am, Regarding fruit after blossom time: they taught me to water apricot trees if a dry spring, but somewhat sparingly. If you only have one or two trees, you might find the use od "Job's fruit tree spikes" worth the small investment? Best wishes!

Anyone have old tire chains they might like to sell me? Need some, 6 of them to be exact. I can build them up or down to size needed by making use of an extra chain.

So far there is rain enough, but will keep track.
I still have to watch the temperature as well, -we can get frost to middle of May

Now peaches, -that is a different. Last year there wasn't even one bloom, no peaches, but the year before they out did themselves! I froze them, spiced them, gave them away! -they broke one branch in spite of us tying & propping them up.
Now this year, they are full of blooms again.

Once in Sweden I was served Home canned peaches soaked in peach liquour over Swedish cake with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, loved it, but knew better than to let on with older companion showing his disapproval without saying anything, if ya catch my drift!

I havednt had spiced peaches. One of my friends was a bit of s tippler and ever yr she would make plums in liquer or wine she called it spiced fruits. She was addicted. I never did taste. Each time I saw her she had run out or some was soaking and n9t ready. We have a nice peach with white flesh here. Im thinking of buying dwarf fruit trees. I havent grown fruit trees before. Oh D i saw white nets you can buy to cover the trees. They were 50 bucks though. I think they would be a lot cheaper to make. They had shaped them square and gathered them on the trunk and tied it.

My pea flowers are being transformed into peas.Fascinating. I cant believe how easy this is. They just respond to sun water and love. Its getting colder and the sun is higher on the deck. I havent found any lady birds yet. They say they are important.

Dennis, I couldn't make a smudge pot after all. The brooder chicken light had been soldered tight so I couldn't get it open to fill the tank. Probably someone did that just so they could sell it as an antique. The wick didn't even look right.
What I finally did was to take a box fan and a small electric heater and put them a few feet apart under the tree. I left them in place & would just plug the line in at night.
We did have a few nights where it was a bit below 32 degrees F. Now there are little apricots growing right along! The fruits come out through the center of the blooms & for a while the blossom looks like a small huha skirt around the apricot before it falls off! Thanks again for your help ( Hope you are feeling better )

I should try a fall crop but by that time I have usually become a little jaded about gardening!
But in the Spring! Oh in the Spring! -"Hope springs eternal (in the human breast)"

We do too! My current method is to chop off the tops and the roots and give them a good scrub, then drizzle a little olive oil, salt and pepper on them, wrap them in foil and roast them. When they come out, the skins just slip off. And I chop the tops, stems and all, and saute them in a little butter and bacon drippings until they're tender. Season them with salt, pepper, and a little balsamic vinegar. Yummy. We make enough on the weekend to last all week, warmed in the microwave.
