I lived in the NZ. The first murder in many yrs was The Arthur Allen Thomas case in 1970. It occured on our honeymoon. Rape would have happened but was kept quiet for the most part. No lynching of blacks there. NZ was not a racist I country There were a few gangs. Generally Nz was a safe country. You could walk the streets at night. leave the doors unlocked, windows open and go on holiday

Guess I am still in the minor league. Appropriate for those who discuss others offending them I guess. My guess is that you have never been a minority. Bob Being a Christian is being in a minority. ken

My guess is that you have never been a minority. I also rather doubt Ken has ever been in a minority.
No doubt he is a "WASP," a Male, Anglo-Saxon Protestant.
Not a "female," not of another color than "white", not any ethnic heritage other "than Northern European," and of course not a "Catholic."
Does that describe you, Ken?
Origin of the COOLIDGE surname is uncertain, but possibly derived from the Old English coll, meaning "hill" and ecg, meaning "rocky ridge or escarpment."
DMG You must have little else to occupy your time than looking up my origin and guessing my alignment. Good luck on that. Seems you spend lots of time finding fault with the thoughts and beliefs of others.Age does not always equate to wisdom ken

The thing is, you can be pretty sure that there are other Christians who would look at you and determine that they, not you, are truly Christian! If you add up all of the "judgmental" (I'm truly Christian, you're not) Christians, I think you will find that there are quite a number of you!!!

Although, I admit that one doesn't have to be older. Bob, Rational, Matisse, Snow, Matt and many others do a really good job as well.

DMG I believe that your thought process places a great confidence in the wisdom of man. There are many today who make a mockery of those who have a confidence in God. It must be nice to sit in a high and lofty place with great respect for your thoughts. Hope you have captured your message in the books you have written. Perhaps you would share the titles and we all could read them. I promise not to google your name. ken

Honestly, when did prayer in school because such a divisive issue anyway ~ what actual harm did it do to anybody to have a moment of silent prayer or peaceful gathering before a game by invoking God's protection over the players? The use of a PA system sort of answers your question. Silent is fine. Using public funds to propagate religious beliefs is the issue.

Martyrdom is a longstanding honor in Christian tradition. It's really common to hear of Christians equating their persecution with evidence of their righteousness. A lot of Christian martyrs intentionally and unnecessarily put themselves in peril for the sole purpose of testing their worthiness for martyrdom.

Ken, My post begin because you posted "Being a Christian is being in a minority." I responded, "I also rather doubt Ken has ever been in a minority."
That is why I looked up your name. To show that more than likely your name denoted what I had said about you being a "WASP," White, Anglo-Saxon & Northern European." We already know that you are a man from your avatar, and that you are Protestant from your posts and I doubt if your color is anything other than"white."
I was just filling in the blanks of the meaning of the term W.A.S.P.

The use of a PA system sort of answers your question. Silent is fine. Using public funds to propagate religious beliefs is the issue. Rational ~ Well, in that respect, I feel it's not advisable. I just didn't realize they did anything like this in schools anymore ~ especially using the school PA system. That would be in bad taste, I must admit. But, I have no problem with keeping it simple and in a small group setting or in a moment of silence practiced in school. Also, people can share their faith at school, work, or wherever without a big fanfare behind it. In such cases where there's a big display to make a point, I feel it's more for affect than anything else. Personally, that type of religious display would be a big turn-off to me, too. The Pharisees did the same, but Jesus never praised them for it, according to Matthew 23 ~ actually just the opposite!
