The generations coming up behind me were crazier than my generation and I would have had to teach them and deal with them so I said no thanks....better? Why would think that you had to teach other generations?
There is a lot more to being able to know history than just teaching it to to others.
Are you sure the problem was that you were hearing some truths of history which upset your iron clad ideas that you didn't want to give up?Thats is what history teachers do, duh! Nope the scallywags coming up behind me were crazier than my generation. Once I really got to thinking about it I decided no thanks.

A dedicated teacher can do a lot of good in the world by keeping people grounded in what is accurate and why certain actions & events happened in the past so they won't be repeating the same mistakes over & over again.

Such simplicities never give anyone a true knowledge of anything!

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key. ~ Already Gone, The Eagles

Christopher Hitchens refers to religion as wishful thinking. Made me laugh thinking of those here that seem gleeful at others burning in their mythical hell. If that doesn’t condemn one to their own hell, I don’t know what does. 🤣

Your statement is the reason behind Christopher Hitchens statement that religion is "wishful thinking."
People want to believe there is a reason behind why there is sorrow in the world and they have to "weep" now.
They want to believe that everything that happens is "intentional" deliberate and done with a purpose.
I suppose it gives then a feeling of security. A meaningless world is a hard thing to have to face.
But I would rather be honest with myself than try to cling to a myth.

Wasn't sure where to put this. I'm sure most of us have heard of the concept of paying-it-forward. I make it a habit that when I can afford it that I pay for meals for military personnel when I'm out and about. What they do for me in keeping me and mine safe touches me deeply.
The idea of pay-it-forward is when someone helps you that when you can that you help others. It doesn't mean you have to pay for a meal. Give of your time. Give a compliment or a kind word.
I remember a friend of my daughter who didn't want to come into our house because she was a high school student who had a child. So what? I was upset with my daughter for not telling her friend that I am NOT that person. I didn't raise my children to hate or judge. My daughter went to the prom with a lesbian friend because the friend wanted to go to the prom and didn't have a date. My daughter said that she knew people would judge her, but she said she cared for her friend more. I was one proud momma!
Anyway... The hubby and I were out to lunch today and sat near what appeared to be a lesbian couple with two small children who were a bit squawky, such as children are at that age. They don't like to sit still. The hubby and I engaged the couple in conversation. The hubby who loves little kids entertained the children. When we went to leave the restaurant, the cashier told us our meal was paid for. As we left the restaurant, we saw the young couple getting into their car. They said not many people talk to them and few are nice when they do. I was moved to tears. I get a bit upset when I am taken to task for what I believe. What I believe you can't see. To think that others have to live in fear of harm or torment angers me. Live and let live. Pay kindness forward. Thank you.

texags.com/forums/16/topics/3263142——————— We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business not just at OneAmerica," the company's CEO Scott Davison said during an online news conference this week. "The data is consistent across every player in that business." OneAmerica is a $100 billion insurance company that has had its headquarters in Indianapolis since 1877. The company has approximately 2,400 employees and sells life insurance, including group life insurance to employers in the state. Davison said the increase in deaths represents "huge, huge numbers," and that's it's not elderly people who are dying, but "primarily working-age people 18 to 64" who are the employees of companies that have group life insurance plans through OneAmerica.

We knew this would happen. The virus would mutate! They always do!
Large areas of the world which were unable get vaccinated with the first vaccine were hot beds for mutations!
Even if it we didn't it out of concern for our fellowman, (...but since when have we ever worried about them? ) -it was one of the reasons why we should have tried to be get the vaccine to countries like Africa even when that country might not be able to afford it!
But then, when have we as a wealthy nations ever worried about our poorer brethren?

We currently don't have enough test or monoclonal antibody treatments for ourselves, thanks to Biden's lack of foresight.
Maybe China should help the poor African countries since they are the source of the problem! The U.S. has $30 trillion in debt, China only has $7 trillion, so they should flip the covid bill for poorer countries.

The subject was "vaccinations," -not "treatments."
...and Dan, -I see, that you seem to still need a "scape goat" to blame for everything.

Well fortunately I am receiving a 4th dose tomorrow . Trying to stay safe . Yes I appreciate it . As we await a new baby from my granddaughter . We lost more infants and children at a alarming amount today . Unvaccinated parents . My roommate was given the news today that the twins have her grandkids , have COVID-19 . Their father went on a vacation and got COVID-19 IN MEXICO . GAVE IT TO KIDS , COVID-19 TO THE TWINS

This made me laugh…
“Christianity is too repressed to offer sex in paradise — Indeed it has never been able to resolved a tempting heaven at all — but it has been lavish in its promise of sadistic and everlasting punishment for sexual backsliders, which is nearly as revealing in making the same point in a different way.” ~ Christopher Hitchens
