I decided to research the Wings for Truth site a little more in depth. It is a WordPress site, which is nice. I like the WordPress templates and the site uses a nice template that is easy to navigate and professional looking. There doesn't seem to be too many tracking cookies, which is a good thing for a site like Wings. quantserve.com and gravatar.com were two tracking cookies that I noticed being used. Gravatar is a tracking cookie used by the company that supplies avatars to many Wordpress themes. So, I would assume that it is harmless. Quantserve.com scripts and trackers, however, aren't so innocent- Quantserve does track user interaction- what page the user visits, how long the user was on the page, what search terms were typed, etc. No personally identifiable data is supposed to be tracked- but I find the practice creepy. I want to make it clear that the admins of Wings probably have no idea about it- so it isn't something that was put out there to violate anyone's privacy- it is the price for using free templates. WordPress has to make money somehow. Proboards is MUCH, MUCH worse with the use of tracking cookies- I count around 11-15 tracking cookies with every new opening or closing of a post. But again, that is the price of using free software- Proboards makes money off the data that they get off of us users. Same with Facebook. And especially the same with Google. You can read more about Quantserve at www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/apr/23/quantcast-tracking-trackers-cookies-web-monitoring The JavaScript calls appeared to be valid and standard JavaScript calls to enable functionality for the UI for the WordPress site. But the best TECHNICAL feature of the the site is that it is properly registered with Google, so that if someone types in "Wings for Truth" in a Google Search, then the Wings for Truth site is the number 1 site returned. That is awesome! The first 8 or so links following are also about "Wings for Truth". Of course if you forget and just type Wings, then you will probably get a lot of Paul McCartney stuff, but that can't be helped until Google introduces mind reading technology- which they are seriously working on- not by reading your mind- but by reading your calendars, gmail, etc., and knowing that if you type in Wings, and you visit or interact with a lot of professing people, then perhaps Wings for Truth gets moves to the top of your search result list. Creepy, creepy, stuff coming down the pike. It isn't easy maintaining a web site. And Scott and company should be applauded. I am still against moving the abuse survivor stories away from such a wonderful site, to a proboards site over ran with tracking cookies and flash advertisements.

A bunch of smart computer geeks on this board.... SD....I do think we need to analyze the moving with all info in front of us. We really don't have this. What if we were to find out that once these moves are made, Wings guidelines go out to all workers? Would this not change your opinion whether it was a smart move? Wouldn't then the positives outweigh the negatives? We need the "rest of the story" to pass judgment. p.s. wow, can you imagine the profiles that are being built on us based on where we go, and what we do on our computers?

A court case in Michigan USA illustrates the importance of complying with legal requirements and notifying the authorities of any instances of suspected abuse. The Michigan Child Protection Law was amended in 2002, effective 2003, to require mandatory reporting by clergy but this was not widely known. In 2011, the overseer for the area, Jerome Frandle, was arrested and charged that he “did knowingly fail to report suspected child abuse or neglect.” Jerome’s attorney filed a ”motion to dismiss.” During that hearing the Court found that “Mr Frandle is a member of the clergy as defined by the statute.” The State of Michigan initially dropped the substantive case but during a further hearing on May 2013 Mr Frandle pleaded no contest to a charge of failing to report abuse and was sentenced to 4 days jail, a fine of $733 and 100 hours of community service. Court documents are available here and the final newspaper report here.
Read the CSA Code of Conduct and discuss it with your fellow workers. It has been developed with the support of workers and members of the fellowship to
Reduce the potential for child sexual abuse (CSA); Establish accepted processes to follow when there are allegations of child sexual abuse; Reduce the potential for false CSA allegations against workers; and Promote cooperative relationships with, and attitudes toward, law enforcement agencies, including the criminal justice and child protection systems. It is not known at this time if this code has been approved or adopted by any overseer or if any other guidelines have been issued by any overseer. In the absence of any statement from overseers, this code exists as a guide to good practice for all friends and workers.
You should consider undertaking the Ministry Safe training course which has been implemented by several overseers.
Please also read the meeting notes from Auckland Special Meetings 2012 where the proper course for dealing with CSA was discussed, and the letters from workers. It sure seems like a lot of people are making claims that really aren't true in regard to the WINGS website.

The code of conduct IS NOT on the Wings website. Cherie was correct. Wings has a LINK to another site that is storing the code of conduct. You are correct in stating that there is a link, Cherie is correct in stating that the code of conduct is not stored on the Wings site. The Wings site is a WONDERFUL site- you and the team do a great job with it, which is why it would do the most good for the survivors to keep their stories on it and not on a trashy Proboards site.

Yes it is.
It is linked to on the home page on WINGS. Just scroll down a few paragraphs wingsfortruth.info/ I am aware that Wings links to the CofC; however, the URL at the top of the CofC board is an offsite google hosted website...it's NOT the url for WINGSfortruth.info
The CofC url is: https://sites.google.com/site/csacodeofconduct/entire-site
I'm aware of the reason for it being published online this way, and have no problem with it.
