I'm reading on FaceBook that Dellas passed away this evening (Sunday) at 8:30 Boise time. He worked in Taiwan for years, and was a regular at our California conventions while on his home visit every few years.
I admired Dellas greatly, and his kindness meant a lot to me when I was laid up after the accident in 1987, having missed most of our California conventions. Word got to him that I was disappointed to have missed seeing and hearing him, and he took the time to stop for a night at my parents' home in Carson City, Nevada, where I was convalescing.
He seemed to have a way of speaking things that made people sit up and think, and I remember seeing some of his peers grow a bit concerned at some of his statements. I admired his courage, and still look back to some of those things he shared as significant challenges for me, resonating with certain things I was struggling to understand.

I had forgotten Dellas' interest in art - I remember now seeing him walk up to closely examine art work in a home.

Al, were you with the 2 California workers who were killed in the automobile accident? I'm not Al, but he was in that accident. Al talked about that awhile back....I believe it was in the coffee talk section. Talk a look, it's worth a read.

Thanks, hberry - I'm having laptop trouble, so not able to go online on the weekend, when I don't have access to the university library. Yes, laverdad, hberry is correct that I was in the 1987 accident in which John Walker and Mike Murray were killed, and also regarding our conversation about the accident over in Coffee Talk.
