What is going on all over Ireland these days??? Seems to be so much unrest, so many workers not sleeping and going home or resting in "their field"? The few that are worst offenders continue on as if they great angels?? Friends are being upset, and no explanation.

Sounds like what Aussie friends say are happening down there, to be sure. They're mostly Irish too aren't they?

I do not know, however I was wanting to try and write to some of the friends that would be related to my grandparents. My grandfather was a worker for a couple years in, I think 1905 in PEI...if anyone has any connections to the friends in Ireland can you contact me through this site? Thanks, Debbie

Perhaps some workers are tired. Happens to us all.

There was to be a workers meeting sometime around now, so wonder who all were there or what were the heated discussions this time. Are the ones kicked off list back again??

Extremely serious allegations have been made on the other "Ireland" thread on the UK board of late. I feel it necessary to request of the person who made these allegations, that they name their source of information and how exactly these situations have come to their knowledge. All of these allegations have been based on hearsay. I understand that it is against the rules of this board to make allegations against anybody. Although initials, and not full names, have been used, the fact remains that all of the Irish friends will know who the workers in question are. Any of the Irish friends who know the workers in question and who have read these allegations will have a question in their mind about whether or not the allegations are true. I therefore appeal to the moderators that the allegations be removed; or if not removed, that it is stated that what is written is simply the OPINION of the writer, and not fact.

It is sad when people get caught up in serious discussions about what should be done about perpetrators of crimes which may never occurred. It is sad when the contributors to this board believe the worst about people. I give the readers the option of believing me when I say that to the very best of my knowledge, the alleged crimes commited by WMcB and NN did not occur. It remains to be seen whether anybody will choose to entertain this possibility, or if they will continue to heap slander upon these innocent people.

EDIT: On rereading the terms of service, it is forbidden to mention even initials of those about whom criminal allegations are made. In this case, I am shocked that the moderators have allowed the comments to remain in the public eye for such a period of time.

However, let me say that I have had presented before me substantive evidence from multiple and credible sources, including one purported victim, of the truth behind the allegations in one case. I have no knowledge or evidence in regards to the other alleged perpetrator.

But no criminal charges have been laid in either case and so your request is one with wisdom I believe.

Thank you, Admin. Like the other poster, I would also be interested to hear the substantive evidence against one worker. Until now I had believed that he made many mistakes and committed immoral acts - immoral, but not illegal as far as the law of the land goes. Looks like I was mistaken. I understand that the sharing of this evidence may not be possible, but if it is I would appreciate it.
I'd also like to add that the "worker who had offered and was on the list but didn't get a chance to go out because he was assaulted by XX" had in fact spent two years in the work and left for an entirely different - honourable - reason.

Perhaps this post could be added to the other thread, as I am unable to post there. Thanks.

dear allegations.... I cannot speak for the antics of the younger worker left of the list last year but I can assure you the older one has many victims. FYI he has recently actually apologised for any distress he caused those years ago. I don't know how long it went on for, but yes, I am one of his victims. If you care to register and say that you previously wrote on this board as 'allegations' I will PM you to confirm..

I don't understand- I've been waiting for others to pipe up about the identical issues in other countries.These problems and whispers of problems are not unique to Ireland but as yet no one in this thread has mentioned it.I wonder if the main concern being issues exist in Ireland, the homeland of the meetings? Are the "wonderful" people of Ireland and the "holy" workers of Ireland meant to be immune to the troubles plaguing other countries? Are they meant to be superior to other nationalities, purer?
