When we want to understand someone, we're usually most successful when we get to know them personally rather than listening to the opinions of others. That's why my views of Jesus are formed by his own witness of himself, and there is plenty left on record to explain to us who he is. John is a commentator, as are other writers. Their views are worth consideration but they are nothing like the real thing direct from the subject himself.
When he said "I am the truth", that's good enough for me. The words he delivered were eternal truths and embodied the words God wants humanity to hear.

Jesus is the Word, Jesus is God. He is the word in every sense. Powerful, anointed, inspiring, not null and void. Alive. He is the logos.
