Are there any professing folks here that would love to see "the truth" make some changes? You want the group to change some of its teachings and rules. Yet you love the fellowship structure and the worldwide community of believers that have developed over the last century? You know it isn't easy as some professing folks resist change and modernization in some fields in the "kingdom". You know how some may want to brand you as a trouble maker with a wrong spirit.
You know the older rural blue collar professing saints won't change. You hope that maybe an educated younger generation will toss off some of the rules of past generations. May God bless you in all you do.

That (fixing the system) was our intention at first when we (wife and I) agreed it was "broken". We tried. But, what "tools" do we have? does any one person have? Prayer to be sure. Testimonies that are exhorting to not be exclusive and why. But, we were met by a brick wall. Later the comment was made about discord in meeting. After leaving a worker (family) called me presumptuous for thinking anything needed changing.
It took longer for my wife to leave (3 years). After I was out for 2 years we started going to a local church and were amazed at the welcome. Our town is just under 10,000 so many in the new church knew us anyway. My wife went to church with our boys and me and then to meeting also for about a year and then she left meeting and we've continued attending this local church.

The fellowship is defined by what it happens to be at the present time and location. It has, and will continue to evolve, but don't look for a reform. Evolution, not revolution.

Evolution is quicker in some locales.
Evolution is slower among the blue collar, rural.

I would love to see that happen, and I believe in some areas it has... but is not very widespread.
And, some people may agree with the changes, but feel guilty about following them if they are so use to the old ways.

Wanting change and being able to bring about change are two different things altogether... Some people want McDonalds to be healthier, so they put some salads and fruit on their menus... That doesn't mean I can't get a double quarter pounder, extra large fries, and a huge coke to go along with my 'healthy' salad...

I love Micky D's double quarter pounders with cheese...and the fries are to die for. Yum. I'm sure that this could be made into a spiritual allegory for sunday morning meeting.

My husband is a bigger guy (not huge by any means, but.. thick). I do urge him to make healthy choices, but I wouldn't ever MAKE him go on a diet.
I don't care if he's big, as long as he's healthy.... and I help him by trying to make healthy meals. But, we both enjoy chowing down.

Reforming the "perfect way?" Like stirring up a hornest's nest! You never know who will sting you!

My experience mirrors Will's. You could see the faces of the others in the meeting harden when something they didn't agree with was spoken. It got to the point where it was difficult to speak what God had placed on my heart. I knew I was upsetting the others in meeting. In my heart, I felt that it would be best for everyone if I stopped attending.
I'm not a mechanic. I'm not any sort of a repairman. God has to do the work. I believe in creation. I believe in Jesus birth, life, death and resurrection. These are mysteries; I accept and believe in them. I can believe that God will work in the hearts of men and women leading them into the true body of Christ.

Are there any professing folks here that would love to see "the truth" make some changes? about some years we thought so. But if the formation was studied we must see the misevaluation. Although we had contact to NZ friends and the man told me: "... we are reforming what it is to reform ..." So there were a lot of individually changes but it changes not the system. If someone is looking for internal peace it's needful to dissociate. There is no other way.

Luke 5:37-38 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. [38] But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

Luke 5:37-38 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. [38] But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. OK You're right in facts. But there are some differences. When inside people find some differences so they compare it with the scripture and they think to correct some to direction to the scripture because it is told that it is "the truth". People hear that and think it's "the original" like described in the NT. We also thought so in the past. That's why we can understand such try to reform. But the system is only called "the truth" but it isn't.
