Passed away peacefully in her sleep October 14, 2009. She was 61 years old Dennis and Ylva would have celebrated their 39th anniversary this month. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Jacobsen and mother of Jeffry Alan Jacobsen and Jennica Susanne (Jacobsen) Gillaspy, and Grandmother of 2 Gillaspy grandchildren. Ylva also has two Swedish brothers: Ingebert Olsson, who is 66 years old and Kenneth Olsson, who is 64 years old. EDIT: Ingebert passed away 10/20/09, less than a week after his sister. See separate post about him posted by Dennis. Financial Assistance is welcome. Read Dennis life story here: Dennis Story

Kathy Lewis wrote these memories of Ylva. Her husband Don Lewis will be officiating at Ylva's service with Dennis cousin, Brian Jacobsen, to be held Friday, October 30, 2009.
MEMORIES OF YLVA
I have been thinking about Ylva and going over some memories about her. I met her right after she and Dennis were married because they moved to Kelso, Washington, near us. She was born and raised in Sweden and is purely Swedish. She spoke American English so well that no one would know it. She was quite intelligent and a great conversationalist. She was hospitable, cheerful, humble and a great cook. I never heard her ever say a critical word about anyone. She always had a twinkle in her eye and was ready to laugh and tease. She was a wonderful Mom and gave unconditional love to her husband and children, no matter what was going on in their lives. She was the perfect wife to Dennis and it is not surprising that he feels completely bereft and alone. She was born to professing parents and had two older brothers, Ingebert Olsson, who passed away just a few days after Ylva, on October 20, 2009, age 66. Her brother Kenneth Olsson, about 64, was broken hearted to hear that she had passed away. They both live/d in Sweden and their parents died long ago. Her father had been a contractor for the Swedish government and became quite wealthy from building condominiums and large apartments. So, Ylva had been raised in luxury. Her Mom was a perfect hostess/housekeeper and their home was ornately furnished with baroque gilded furniture and European antiques. Marrying an American ex worker who had also been a Viet Nam Veteran changed Ylva's life completely. And she took to it with complete devotion. I never heard her complain and never saw her feeling sorry for herself no matter how many financial challenges they had. Their first home was flooded at least twice by the Cowlitz River and everything they had was ruined. So, they have faced significant challenges ever since they were married. I have been trying to think of other things about her and my daughter reminded me of how all the children loved her. She was so tiny that she looked more like a child than an adult. Dennis is very tall but Ylva wasn't even 5 feet, I don't think. At least she didn't seem to be. She would talk to the children in Swedish and tell them stories and tell them about Sweden. Our daughter, Trisha, used to pretend to speak Swedish because Ylva made it sound so delightful. Ylva liked to garden and loved flowers and animals. Dennis and Ylva always had animals wherever they lived. Anyway, I truly respected her for many reasons. I think the virtues mentioned in the Beatitudes express her best. She was meek, humble, kind, merciful, and the salt of the earth. She loved the Lord and her husband, children and grandchildren with all her heart.

I feel your pain Dennis. It was a similar situation at my grandma's funeral a year ago this month.

Oh my ... I haven't been on here in quite some time so I was shocked and saddened to read about the passing of Dennis Jacobson's wife. Dennis, I am so sorry for your loss; you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.
