This movie had everything going for it. Great acting, a great plot, the troubled protagonist, but at the very end, it just ran out of steam. I'm sure the critics can say artistic things about the way it ended, and there is probably a grad school literary term for it, but it really didn't end. It just stopped. Talk about lack of closure! If you watch it, make sure you stop five minutes before it ends. Make up your own ending and you will like it a lot more.

I completely (and of course respectfully) disagree. He was such a washed up wreck. How else could it have ended?? I thought the ending was perfect. It did just stop, but that was the perfect ending. He saw no way out of his life. He just had to take the leap. I thought the film interesting and thoughtful. THe wrestling scenes so hard to watch. It was so edgy and perfectly done. I watch mostly foreign films as I cant stand all the special effects of the typical american film, so this was the perfect film for me to see.

I read the movie spoiler for The Wrestler and knowing the ending convinced me that I would have hated the film. I don't care much for movies like that anyway, so I was on the fence as to whether I wanted to watch it - I'm glad I didn't waste the time. I'm still annoyed about the whole No Country For Old Men fiasco . . . . The Wrestler would have probably brought out the same aggravation.
