No, I haven't seen it yet . . . but I'm like you, I can't wait. I've been looking forward to this film since Batman Begins ended. LOL I purchased tickets for this Friday afternoon, so when I've seen it I'll come back and post my thoughts about it . . . I'm fairly confident I'll like it, though.

Hahaha me too. Batman begins far exceeded my expectations and from that point I couldn't wait for the next one. I am hoping to go one day this week. Not sure when maybe Thursday.

So, you're gonna do a midnight screening then? Though I am a night owl, I can't do midnight screenings . . . I even read that some theaters are playing it at 3 and 6 a.m. because they sold out so quickly on the midnight showing. Wow.

oops....here I was thinking I was doing so good because it had thought it had just been released this last weekend and I was trying not to go for a couple days so I wouldn't have to battle the crowds. Hahaha I guess my honest mistake. It is being released this weekend. So, yah, I won't be going at midnight. Too hard to go to work the next day. But now I have to start making plans for this weekend. Hmm possibly on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to it too but we'll wait until the crowd dies down somewhat too. I have to take the kids to see Wall-E...maybe we'll do that tonight!

no name, I TOTALLY agree! Absolutely fabulous!!! freespirit Did it leave you exhausted afterward? I personally felt drained - but in a good way. There was just so much that happened, and so many things it made you think about that by the time it was over, it literally felt like I'd been wrung out. LOL Can't wait to see it again. ;D

I don't wanna spoil it for anyone else, but I wanna know what your favorite part was. PM me or maybe we could just make a warning for everyone if we post spoilers. I'll post appropriate spoiler warnings - that way anyone else who has seen the movie can join in our little love-fest about the film. Anyway, it's kind of hard to narrow it down!!! Basically, every scene with Heath in it was my favorite part. LOL (Though I'm an ardent Bale fan, Heath literally stole the show here.) But I suppose if I had to choose a few of my favorites (I really can't narrow it down as much as simply ONE), I'd say: SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!!!! You've been warned! The part where the Joker was walking out of the hospital in that nurse outfit, looking completely hilarious in that dress and man legs poking out underneath . . . . and then when he fiddled with the detonator and it appears to malfunction, but suddenly everything was exploding and it even made the Joker jump out of his skin!! LOL!!! Hilarious!!!! The part where Joker was attacking the armored van and he pulled out that rocket-launcher type of weapon literally made me LOL. Also, some of the things Joker would say to Batman like: "You complete me." and "I can't kill you! You're too much fun!" This stuff really cracked me up. The scenes that took place when Joker was in the jail were also among my favorites - specifically when Batman was beating the tar out of him and he would just laugh! Then, when he said something like: "I just want my phone call." And pretty much anytime Joker went on a monologue about his philosophy . . . . in a strange way he started making sense (which is one reason why I think his character was so compelling - he's the perfect Batman enemy). I have a strange sense of humor sometimes . . . . Joker was completely psychotic and dangerous, but he could still make me laugh like crazy. Heath pulled the part of perfectly. As I knew he would. Oh goodness, there were just so many great moments in this movie - and so much happened that it was almost hard to absorb it all. This is why a 2nd (or even a 3rd) viewing is in order! ;D What about you? What were some of your favorite scenes?

oooooooooooooooooh... so many good scenes...
My top two favorites:
The part where the Joker is wearing the nurse outfit and can't seem to get the detonator to work, then bangs it a few times and it goes off--soooooooooooo funny!
Batman beating the crap out of Joker in jail.
These in no particular order:
The prisoner throwing saying "I'm going to do what you should have done ten minutes okay" then throwing the detonator out the window.
Harvey Dent saying "I'm the Batman."
Harvey's face as two face--the make-up/costuming was so good!
Bruce Wayne with his shirt off sewing himself up. I don't know why I liked that scene so much, I just did.
Joker burning the pile of money.
The look on Bruce/the two guests faces who are availing themselves of Bruce's private bedchamber during the party when he walks in. "Oh, Thank God you have a panic room," she says and then Bruce slams the door leaving the two of them alone in the room.
I could probably keep going for hours...
I thought all the actors were awesome, the script was fabulous, the costuming/casting was so well-done. The movie totally rocked.
fs, reveling in the Batman Love-fest

The look on Bruce/the two guests faces who are availing themselves of Bruce's private bedchamber during the party when he walks in. "Oh, Thank God you have a panic room," she says and then Bruce slams the door leaving the two of them alone in the room. Oh yeah - that part! I couldn't hear what those people said to him so I didn't get what caused some chuckles in the audience during that scene. LOL But yeah, that's funny. I completely agree, except that I could have TOTALLY done without Maggie G. When I found out that she had been cast as Rachel last year I almost heaved and it took awhile to recover from the huge disappointment and nausea. It was difficult to suffer through her screen time . . . . but her presence was the only major issue I had with the film. Thankfully, Bale, Ledger, and the others managed to compensate for the drawback that was MG. Anyway, I'm headed out of town this week, but I'll probably be catching it again with my cousin and her son over the weekend. Yep. It was THAT good . . . multiple big-screen viewings are definitely in order. ;D BRICK! Where are you? Have you not seen this yet? I figured you would have caught it by now!!

It took me a while, but I got my first look at it last night. I was prepared to be let down. It would be difficult for any movie to live up to its expectations after all the hype with Heath Ledger's death. Surprisingly, Heath never made an appearance in the film. I don't mean he wasn't there, but he was so deeply submerged into the character of the Joker, it was almost as if he never showed up. I kept looking for his familiar features under the Joker make up, but it wasn't until near the end of the film that I could see Ledger under the mask of the Joker.
This film was sooooo Batman. It was perfect. Batman is not to be laughed at as some of the earlier Batman movies tried to do. The scene mentioned where Batman is pulverizing Joker in the interrogation room is right out of a comic. Joker pushing Bats buttons, knowing full well that Bats is going to break him in half, but just wanting to see how far Batman will go, mindless of the pain.
As a Batman fan for more than four decades, this film reproduces the REAL Batman that is found in the comics. He is dark, brooding, mindless of his sacrifice. DC Comics definitely gave Marvel a black eye with this comic adaptation.
So who is going to see Watchmen?

Brick - I agree with everything you said about TDK . . . . including the part that "Batman is not to be laughed at as some of the earlier Batman movies tried to do." Reviewers who despaired or complained that TDK was too dark (or whatever) clearly don't know much about the character.
I don't know anything about Watchmen (except for hearing that there was a movie), so I'm not sure if I'll go see it; depends totally on the reviews, I guess.
H.A.S. - it was awesome, wasn't it?
I knew it would be, but it actually ended up being SO much better than I could have even imagined.

LOL - goodapollo . . . I think I've watched it 7-10 times already. Three times in theaters; the rest on DVD. It hasn't grown old. It's one of those movies . . . . . just like Terminator 2 . . . . that I can watch multiple times in a year and not get tired of it.

Just saw it in the cheap theater (I love that place! $3.00 for an evening movie!!) I thought it was quite interesting. Very different... a much more realistic approach to Batman than the traditional comic book approach (hmmm... ??). Yes, very dark, but Joker still was funny while being maniacal. A maniac being maniacal? There's a no-brainer. I didn't really care for batman's deep rumbling voice. I liked how it seemed like it might wrap up, but then still kept on going. I'm not a big comic book reader, but it seems like how a comic book would be. The movie ended much like I would expect a comic book to end. Overall, a pretty good movie. no name, you said you watched the movie three times in the theater... do you get a discount that you can watch it more than once in the theater? I can't imagine paying normal theater prices for any movie anymore. Not at $8.75 for an evening movie, ($6.50 for a matinee)! andy

And would you believe they have an intermission during movies? Yep. And the films are NOT made with intermission in mind. It's rather abrupt. Movie grinds to a halt, lights come on, the crowd exits for a smoke or an ice cream, and 15 minutes later they all return and the movie starts again. We've been to maybe 3 movies here in 3 years. Much better to stay home and watch old American classics... in German.

I love, love, love the Money Pit! Hey, mrleo, I think the last time I saw you, you were living with a cousin in Cedar Rapids in an old house full of character (and a grand piano that was for decorative purposes only.) I'd love to have a house like that one day! Just remembered-- i actually helped paint that house once. The home-owner (J.) wasn't such a handy-man, so the brother (C.) was in the lead - and the other cousin whom I was with at the time (RN) offered our assistance. Fun, actually. Oh, and the house next door that belonged to one of the friends was fabulous too!

Ah yes - neither house is occupied by the same people now. I helped caulk some of the windows - maybe you helped with that too? Sadly, your painting was eventually covered by vinyl siding (sadly, from a Historic Preservation purist point of view). Not sure what became of the piano - poor thing. But yeah, I loved that Craftsman oak staircase.
