The plot and combination of actors gave this movie every opportunity for success, but the plot failed to innovate, the characters failed to inspire, and it finally dwindled off into mediocrity.
There was one really neat scenic shot that I remember, and the rest was just desert, or at night, or inside. There were no surprises. This film was about as exciting as ironing a shirt.

Well, I went to see it just because of Mr. Bale's presence in the film (he did a fine job of acting the part, imo). And Crowe was so darn sneaky that when you found yourself forgetting he was a dangerous criminal, he quickly reminded you what he was capable of. I knew how it was supposed to end b/c I read a movie spoiler for the original. But other events surprised me. Certainly not the best film I've ever seen but I'll be adding it to my collection due to the fact that I did like the acting . . . . and Christian's presence onscreen, of course.

Oh, I thought Bale and Crowe did a fantastic job. Unfortunately for me, their script just didn't do their abilities justice.

Brick are you going to make this movie walk the plank? I am renting it the next time I go to blockbuster unless you convince me otherwise.

Layla - it's worth it just for a new chance to look at Bale onscreen. ;D

Hmmm, no-name, when you put it that way....... Bale's so pretty, it's almost worth watching him in just about anything. Except, well - "The Machinist" - that was pretty painful to look at.

Bale is a heart throb? I wouldn't have thought so. Of course, I'd never pretend to know the mind of a woman. ;D
Has he ever played any romantic roles?

Bale is a heart throb? I wouldn't have thought so. Oh goodness, yes - well, at least to me he is. Eye candy with brains - and he can actually act, too. ;D And don't ever try . . . . we're way too complicated. Even the female vamps with a male-dominant brain (like me). Um, well - he's not necessarily a "romantic leading role" actor; the only thing that's coming to mind at the moment is the part he played in Little Women. Most of his movies that I like are action-oriented, like Equilibrium, Batman Begins, Reign of Fire, etc. - or quirky roles like what he played in The Prestige and American Psycho (but that's a totally off-the-wall film that doesn't appeal to everyone). I'm so looking forward to his appearance in T4. If his part in that movie is secured, I think he'll make an awesome John Connor.

Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Kevin Costner, I can understand being attractive, but Bale just doesn't seem the type in the stuff I've seen him in.

Christian doesn't usually play the "hunky" role type - and the male specimens you mention don't personally appeal to me all that much. I've never really considered any of them all that attractive. Bale is much, much more appealing to my eyes.

SPOILER ALERT (for anyone who hasn't seen it yet):I hated it that Christian got killed - I was not aware that was how it would go down. But I knew that Russell would get on the train . . . . of course, he plans to try and break out of that jail later anyway (after all, he had done it before). He was calling for his horse, because - while he decided to get on the train in a final moment of honor - he never intended to actually stay incarcerated.

Hey Ran do me a favor would ya? If you're gonna post a significant plot detail, do like no name and put spoiler alert or something similar and leave several spaces, ok? I was just skimming the thread (which I didn't have to do) and noticed your "blah, blah gets killed or dies or whatever" out of the corner of my eye. If I DID wanna watch this film, that kinda ruined it.... Thanks in advance, if ya don't mind! Mich
