I agree, 3. Premonition kinda ticked me off, actually. I was really looking forward to it, enjoyed it all the way through, but...eh. Didn't like it in the end. Many will...I just didn't. I won't say any more, as I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen it.
I LOVE Lake House too, Brick. Most, (yes) Sandra Bullock movies, actually...

Now I'm wondering if I should watch it. But yes, Lake house is a favorite of mine. The idea of being so close, but unable to really connect...

Watched it. Yes, it was a bit confusing. The timeline changes messed up my perception of the flow of the story. The thing about the dead crow confused me. Are you pondering whether she caused the whole thing or not? I am. But I think the big message was what the priest said: "It's never too late to realize what's important in your life; to fight for it." I have a book mark with a similar saying on it: "It's never too late to become what you always wanted to be."

SPOILER WARNING, for those who didn't see the movie Premonition yet and don't want to know the end.....(do not read below) I did wonder that, Brick, yes....but that main problem for me was much more simple! He died! heh....I was all set for a nice romance, and the guy dies in the end! ugh. I wanted him to be saved, predictable or not! M.

I'm gonna take my thoughts over to friendsworkers.proboards78.com/ to spare TMBers my philosophical ramblings. I'll post a lengthy and boring GIT-like essay over there for those who are interested to read.

Had a look at Amazing Grace this weekend. It was worth my while.
It's based on the life of William Wilberforce, the British MP and slave trade abolitionist around 1800. It also brings in his relationship with John Newton, the former slave trader who wrote the hymn Amazing Grace.

my confusion centers around the events that seemingly occurred at one time or another. Was Linda actually committed to a funny farm? Did her daughter actually run through the plate sliding glass door? Or, since she was able to relive the day of her husband's death, did none of the above occur? ?

That is sort of confusing. Her daughter did run through the sliding glass door. However, she was not committed. I'd have to watch it again, but the time lines were jumping around a bit with that stuff. At first, I thought it was day one, notification of hubby's death, day two, a week or so prior to it, then day three, the day after her hubby's death notification, day four, one week earlier, or something after that. But it wasn't linear. It was weird. I didn't like that part. It was confusing. So I see what confused you.

LOL. Yeah, they bone and done that. Heh. Anyway, yeah...I was totally confused about what happened and when, too. I think to really know you would have to watch the end of the movie again, and pay attention to some details like...when she sees her daughters does the one have scars on her face on THAT DAY, etc. See, to me, I thought since she relived that day, that NONE of it really happened. (well I thought it now. To be honest, I was so ticked about the ending at the time that I didn't really try to decipher what actually happened and what didn't...heh.) M.

Oh my goodness! I love that series!
I got tears in my eyes just like I did when I was younger when Jack the dog wandered into camp.
And the Christmas segment is touching. We're so removed from the simple joys of the holidays b/c the mass commercialization of the season which now begins before Halloween.
It makes my gut hurt.

Have just watched The Illusionist, great movie, if you're like me you've got to watch it twice to pick up all the subtleties you miss on first pass. Anybody else seen it?

Deja Vu . . . . one of my favorite Denzel Washington movies. I also liked The Lake House - quite a bit more than I thought I would. Have not yet watched The Illusionist, but I did see The Prestige (different movies, I know - but both deal with magicians).

All the folks in our mtg. have tv except the elder. They watch debates and news on their laptop. Most of us have quit putting them away. I broke two tv atennaes that way in the past. Now it's just out. What are they gonna say about the 3 stations we have? I've watched most of the movies listed here. Like October Sky, Gone With the Wind, Pearl Harbor, Hope Floats, Beautiful Mind, Braveheart, Sommersby, Forrest Gump, Gladiator, You've Got Mail, Wedding Planner, Finding Forrestor, Will Smith's movies, there's just too many. We've got a little collection that we watch on those long winter nights. I used to absolutely enjoy going to the matinee by myself but haven't done it so much the past year or two. Just not a lot of new movies out that I want to pay $7.00 to see when I can see it in a couple months on DVD. We may go see the new Indiana Jones movies. Looks good. We don't watch much of anything in the summer/fall, too busy with other things.
