Does anyone here do scrapbooking? I love it when I have some free time and am in the mood...have to do it when I'm feeling like it. Where do you get your supplies and ideas? Any favorite online stores that are reasonable prices, cute stuff, etc? M.

<---------------------- BIGTIME Scrapper!!!!!!
I have yet to find supplies that are REASONABLY priced!!!! I spend SO much money on papers/embellishments etc. OH but its SO much fun. Im working on my kids "first 5 years" right now. They are enjoying helping me lay out the pages etc. My daughter is really crafty and she just finished a "funny" book of herself which she cracks up at each time she looks at it! Ill see if i can find some of the pages i scanned from an album i did for my brother's wedding in Ireland. It was on my other harddrive that crashed but I think I was able to recover some of the pages.

Yes ... love scrapbooking! I use mostly CM albums & supplies. Can't beat the quality and the tools are the best. Doing albums for my kids - big and little. Working on an album "All About Me" and it's turning into a therapy session with myself and dealing with and letting go of baggage. Cheaper than a psychologist!

I love scrapbooking. I like creative memories however they are quite costly.
If you watch sales at hobby lobby they have scrapbooking stuff they have on sale often.

Hey All, Im a scrapper too!! Like everybody else, I have to find the time and be in the mood! And Im not as creative as some, I need mags or books to help me along. ;D My sister has an online scrapbook store. Not sure how competitive she is. She is just starting the business up. It is www.scrapbookcafesc.com. Check it out and and see. Im sure she would also like any input on how the site looks and any ideas. Does anyone find that they get in a rut and end up doing the same basic page? I also found out that I am quite a linear person. I end up blocking things off--go figure. Guess I really do need the mags and books ;D Ok, just heard my daughter learning her spanish words and she said buenos noches....that sounds like a good idea to me...Im beat. Happy Scrapping as the say! Christ's Blessings Cat

what.... no one liked my joke? I loved the joke! I expect it is so close to the truth it hurts. I have never grasped the idea of making a scrap book other than to hold and display specific items. It reminds of WWW sites with all of the animated figures and non-informative items that do nothing but obscure and detract the material you are trying to display. Of course, you have to consider that the material may actually be improved by being less visible. I find my s crapbook experience has been one of frustration. It is like sitting down to eat and finding that the majority of the space on the plate is taken up with cute little labels and arrows pointing to the various specks of food, a lot of purchased decorations that add nothing to the nourishment of the diner, and perhaps some gratuitous drawings of cows just in case I don't know the origin of the beef. I find myself turning page after page with a minimal amount of information because the creator has decided to fill the pages with embellishments that add nothing to the experience of viewing the information being presented. They create a 1/4 page photo of people on a beach with palms in the background and then fill the other 75% of the space with palm tree, starfish, seahorse, etc. clip art to drive the point home that the people are on a beach with palm trees instead of filling the page with the photo with a simple text caption like: Bob, Mary and Sue After the ménage à trois Aruba - March 2006
You could see they were on the beach. The only other questions are who, why, where, and when and the simple caption answers all the questions. It even explains the source of the smiles, now easily visible in the larger photo! Of course, the clip art does, I guess, serve a purpose. In order to get room for all of the oh so cute clip art and other embellishments the original photo, the actual point of the display, is so small that the viewer probably cannot make out that the people are on a beach and will need all of the help they can get so when they begin to 'Oooo' and 'Ahhhhaaaa' they can at least have a slim chance to be 'Ooooing' and 'Ahhaaing' in the right context. Pat (should have had coffee before I posted) Reilly

Eh....if you don't like it, don't do it, don't look at it, don't...whatever. But why not just leave the subject alone for the people who DO enjoy it?? Oh my..the Secret. Must keep thinking I'm gonna have a good day, must keep thinking it...because you, sir, are right on the verge of putting me in a bad mood already this morning! M.

I find it interesting that you cannot spell scrapbooking without the word "crap".... I thought this was very funny, mostly because it was so gratuitous... a nice conversation among the ladies... and then... I don't scrapbook (can that be a verb?!) because I don't have the patience and because my children are demanding little animals who never give me a moment's peace. Also... I guess I'm just too lazy. All of my pictures are in a big box, I have to dig through it whenever I want something.

Scrapbooking is on my "to do" list, along with a thousand other things. I have made my own greeting cards, using the same supplies a scrapbooker would - and I enjoyed that. I'm just not too sure where to begin with my own photos! My youngest is 23, and that would be a job and a half to organize the tons of photos we have. I've often thought I would start one for any grandchildren I may have some day.

I go in streaks. I'll get all into it for a while, then I can't be bothered by it for a while. Right now I'm in a "can't be bothered" stage. M.

Hi Scrapbookers For those who are over-whelmed and frustrated with all the "stuff" for scrapbooking. What I suggest is to focus only on the photos and telling/journaling the stories behind your photos. Ignore the fluff as no one really cares about that. Those who look at your albums later will only care about what you have written and the photos.
Suggestion: Save your $ for a quality album, pages, page protectors & adhesive. You can spend many $ on embellishments that you won't use. If you chose to use a lot of enhancements that's ok too but the bottom line for your family are the photos & stories.
Moms with young - teenagers: It is well worth your time to take an hour once a week (you deserve an hour for you) to at the minimum to organize your photos -only then start to put these photos in albums. Children LOVE to look at albums about themselves.
ok - I won't keep on with this - I guess it shows I feel strongly about preserving our childrens childhood complete with the stories behind the pictures.

My 13 year old daughter is an innovative scrapbooker. She focuses on the photos also Ann and tell the "stories" about them . She is a bargain hunter, shopping for supplies at Dollar General , wherever there is a deal.
