Nora Roberts is an excellent author... I have several of her books here too. I think it's been about 3 years since I've read a harlequin... I have them all packed up in boxes from about 2 moves ago! Maybe I should just take them down to the local Vinnies here... or the book trade store lol.
Do you have some of the titles of your other favourite books that you read? I'll look them up here and see if I can't get my hands on some second hand too... nothing like being able to relax and disappear into the world of fiction right? ;D

My favorite authors are James Patterson, Iris Johanson, Jonathon Kellerman, John Sanford - great mystery writers with a little sex thrown in sometimes. I'm reading Hardscape right now by Justin Scott - a great mystery. Love to read, live to read - one of the greatest stress relievers in the world.

I always read the New Robin Cook and Mary Higgens Clark. Recently I read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and could not put them down. They are geared towards teenage girls-- and my daughter had them so I started them and now am hooked. There are 3 and the 4th one comes out in the fall Link to her website www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html

I too, am a Jonathon Kellerman fan. I like mysteries, fantasy, and the occasional combat/international intrigue/spy novel thrown in for good measure.

Some of the books I've read in the last few months are:
"Middlesex" - Jeffrey Eugenides "Eat, Pray, Love" - Elizabeth Gilbert "The Tipping Point" and "Blink" - Malcolm Gladwell "The Omnivore's Dilema" - Michael Pollen "Love in the Time of Cholera" - Gabriel Garcia Marquez "Into the Wild" - Jon Krakauer "The Gathering" - Anne Enright " Bliss" - O.Z. Livanelli "The Pillars of the Earth" - Ken Follett " A Thousand Splendid Suns" - Kahled Hosseni " The Golden Notebook" - Doris Lessing " Divisidero"- Michael Ondaatje "The Brain that Changes Itself" - Norman Doige " A New Earth" - Ekhart Tolle
About half of these I am still reading. The two by Malcolm Gladwell are very interesting non-fiction.

I haven't read anything that she has written, but I have a few of her books in que to be read. Anyone read that new Oprah book, The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett? Brick, I have read Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet, only about four times. It is amazing! Once you start reading it, you can't put it down. I bought it for my whole family, i.e. brothers, sisters and parents, and they all liked it. FAE

I read Pillars of the Earth a few months back. I liked it. I like history or people, places & religions. Made me more aware of how the Catholics were in that time period. I recently read Ken Follett's newest book "World without End". I didn't like it as much, felt it was about 300 pgs. too long.

Reposted: We need some new threads on this board, so I'm going to try to think of some. As I'm about ready to go sit down and finish a book, this one came to mind first.... Name some of your favorite authors and/or reads here. My favorite romance authors are Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. For a bit of suspense thrown in, I like Patricia Cornwell. If you can name me some terrific authors who write romance/mystery/suspense combos, I will be very pleased! Thanks! M. I used to read a lot of Patricia Cornwell, not so much anymore. I just finished Debbie Macomber's newest book '20 wishes'. I liked it. Typical Debbie book. At the moment I'm reading Clive Cussler.

The dashing and persistent Dirk Pitt? Pitt is quite the debonair swashbuckler, isn't he! He isn't in this one however. That guy sure has an interesting life...guess mine would be too if I could work for NUMA.

Jesus among other Gods - Ravi Zacharias LOTR - J.R.R.T. (I've read it every other year since '99. All other fantastical fiction pale in comparison.)

"THE RED TENT"is an awesome book. It is part historical and part a fictional account of women during the old testamnt days. When the book is finished, you want it to keep going--so you just start reading it again. Charlene

Hard to put the word excellent and Nora Roberts (or J.D. Robb, Sarah Hardesty, or Jill March) in the same sentence.

Yeah, it was a big deal on Oprah. I think they even had an online course you could take with the author. My mom actually gave me the book to read, and I'm glad she did! This book really gets to the core of humanity.

I just discovered the "Odd Thomas" books by Dean Koontz - not masterpieces of fiction, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I just discovered the "Odd Thomas" books by Dean Koontz - not masterpieces of fiction, but enjoyable nonetheless. Over the last 20 yrs I believe I have read just about everything he has written. I keep reading his books but he tends to use the same formula...the characters tend to run together. But I think Mr. Murder is my favorite. I do like the Odd Thomas ones too! Christ's Blessings cat

I just discovered the "Odd Thomas" books by Dean Koontz - not masterpieces of fiction, but enjoyable nonetheless. Ohhhhhh!!! I love the Odd Thomas books! I recently finished the 3rd one. From what I understand, the 4th book just came out, so I'll be hunting for the audiobook of that one soon. ;D ETA: I've also got the Stephanie Meyer books on my "to listen to" list. I think I'll wait until after I watch the upcoming Twilight movie, though. I've found that if I listen to a book too close to watching the movie, I usually end up being disappointed.

aint read it in 30 years i guess, but i'd still have to say Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls I haven't read that book in over 30 years also. Another great book I remember from my childhood is The Voice of Bugle Ann by MacKinlay Kantor. I have so many favorite authors I simply can't name or remember them all. Some of my old-time favorite authors are Taylor Caldwell and Pearl Buck. These days I read a lot of Lyall Watson, Daniel Quinn, Starhawk, and John Lamb Lash. Margaret George is one of my favorites also. www.margaretgeorge.com/books/books.aspIf you like historical fiction, Sharon Kay Penman is a gem. www.sharonkaypenman.com/penman_books.asp
