It appears that Ohio may give the election to Kerry. Is the economy in Ohio that rotten? I know Youngestown has suffered some. Concerns over outsourcing, Chinese competition and the move to a post industrial economy has hurt the factory towns in OH. But OH could be the state to elect the most liberal US government in 40 years!
So those of you in OH, you have an important job: YOU MAY DECIDE THIS ELECTION.

Ohio’s Republican governor pushed through an increase in the sales tax rate to 6 percent from 5 percent. This when Ohio continued to lose jobs. Ohio is 49th out of the 50 states in job growth. Only neighboring Michigan has suffered greater job losses. When Bush took office there were no counties with unemployment of more than 10 percent. After 4 years of Bush there are several. In Meigs and Morgan counties (SE Ohio) the jobless rate is above 15 percent. The poverty rate is over 31 percent in Cleveland. As governor Bush was able to raise Houston to one of the most polluted cities in the US. As president he has lifted Cleveland to the rank of the nation’s poorest big city. "Give Us Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses" - Oh never mind - they're already here. Thanks 'W'. Yes - think before you vote. The only thing to fear is more Bush.

So you trust Teddy Kennedy's fellow liberal Massachussett's Senator to save Ohio! WOW! I mean Michael Dukakis' lieutenant when Willie Horton killed and raped. And produced the dirty Boston Harbour.
Why is George Voinovich so popular in the polls? Lots of people seem to be going for Voinovich and Kerry. Weird.
I really feel like Ohio and Michigan needs to get into the post industrial service sector of the economy. Expecting to remain an industrial area is naive.
Why not develop a silicon valley or research triangle near Akron? Nice to hear from a Buckeye.
