Africa is a sick continent. A dark land of AIDS, starvation, tribal genocide, dictators, illiteracy, cannibalism, witchcraft and filth.
I sometimes wonder if these people even know how to run their own country. Why should WE get involved? How many Liberians volunteered to help us in Iraq. We have to become involved in Iraq because of oil (face it we all want to ride around in style). But Liberia is a sick country. Hopeless. Nothing can be done about it. Charles Taylor, Former president Tubman and others were monsters.

To Hey: Everything you said about Liberia could be said about your own beloved country. I'm not sure about tribes, but there sure are gangs, which are very simililar. Mabye you should try to help - I know of other missionaries over there right now trying to do just that. Jenny

Emotional feel goodism can make you feel like you are a good person. But if you 2 think Africa's stats compare to USA , Britain or Japan, you better do some research. Africa is FAR inferior to the rest of the world IN EVERY MEASURE of social and economic indicators. Bryan South Africa is more advanced due to evil white rulers! LOL
I don't see missionaries making much of a dent into the dark continent. And why question my "Christianity"? What the hell does that have to do with Africa's misery??
Check you per capita stats. Mexico would be richer than any African nation south of the Arabic north.
There is little or no democracy. Starvation. No Jenny, people don't starve in US. Welfare checks take care of them.
America is the best nation on the planet. Big and yet rich. And free. Even if we once had Indian wars and slavery. I am not ashamed to say that the US is the best nation on the planet. And Africa is the most wretched on the planet.

US has a much more superior health care system, higher life expectancy, more wealth, etc.. Check your stats young lady. Africa is hell. Sleeping sickness, AIDS, deforistation, no free elections and all. Do some internet research. Liberia is hopeless. The League of Nations considered revoking its nationhood in 1920 because the colony founded by freed slaves had resorted to slavery.

Africa is hell. Sickness. Disease. Violence. Far worse than even the Middle East. Hopeless. Tribal confusion. And a hot humid climate that leads to laziness. Charles Taylor's exit from power will not help Liberia!
