For the many who say there are no rules and no brainwashing, please "pretend" you are quiting meeting attendance for three months. Quit, just for the sake of an experiment. Then, come back and tell everyone your experience.
Expect some major shunning and avoidance. Expect some very mean things to be said about you.(while inside, you are just as "professing"!!!)
I dare you.

For the experiment to have any validity at all the person leaveing would have to make sure the people knew, or at least believed they were leaving and NOT coming back. I also think the person leaving would have to appear to be disgruntled with the whole shebang.
I dont really think taking three months off without people believing you have "left" would prompt the eforts to re-assimilate

It is what you would hope from a Christian fellowship but not what I experienced. It was almost an immediate feeling like they almost never knew you. It was a very stand-offish thing, like suddenly you had a contagious disease and they didn't want it to be catching.

Even though I'm not a 2X2, I sure wouldn't want to be one who was tempting the 2X2's to leave. Seems like in the bible, those who tempted like that didn't usually end up very well.

I think rather than shunning and avoidance, there would be concern and open arms to welcome one back into the fold. One would think. Didn't happen this way for me.

The 2x2s are a cult. If you realize this you'd understand that it's not about "tempting" them to leave, but helping them understand the reality of the lies and false teachings they have been living under. They need help recognizing the depth of their own indoctrination, don't feel badly about helping them.

The truth that you worship in a cult is a difficult pill to swallow, for sure. That's why it's so hard to know how to help you. Fortunately, God knows. Be prepared.
