Workers still preach from the platform in some areas that professing children serving God shouldn't be attending school activities. A sister worker told about how some children refused to attend a school play on Wednesday night. They told their parents that they felt they should be in a meeting.
They say they don't tell people not to do these things-Holy Spirit does that. But there is some conditioning going on whether they believe it or not.

It's rather archaic/antiquated/whathaveyou..................we missed a number of Wed. night meetings growing up because of school activities and the workers didn't say a thing to us about it and the 'friends' actually supported us.

Most workers would consider a school dance or prom to be "inappropriate to a true child of God!" And they would question anyone who couldn't see the error of such a choice! Senior workers and overseers in Eastern North America would be very opposed to many after school activities for young people.

Growing up, I knew that I would not be allowed to attend activities on Wednesday night or on Sundays. At the time, I did not like it at all. Now I appreciate that my parents were trying to help me get my priorities in the right order. When parents try to teach their kids priorities and it has to do with religion, critical people like to call it conditioning or brain washing. I call it good parenting.

That is true for all the world, get your head out of the 2x2 gutter. Their is nothing special about your group, you don't have anything that any other group can or can't have. get over yourselves soon you are like a fraternity you have to stay in the dark to protect your secrets and lies The Baptist don't have to hide like the 2x2's do. You hide from the world and you hide from God. Why because you are a false light, lit by your own vanity

I just posted my own upbringing (I'm not a 2x2 but I do respect them like I respect all people who try) and I get slammed. Real nice. Over and out. I'm done here. Too much anger.

Interesting that they preach the power of the Holy Spirit, yet still have to make little mentions of various F&W tenets, just in case the Holy Spirit forgot to advise some of their flock. Pssstt. Say, did you hear that the Holy Spirit said TV was evil? Not that we preach any rules, but I thought I should just pass on the latest Heavenly press release.

I think a lot depends on who is in your field and what else is going on around. When I was in high school (over 40 years ago), was in three school plays my senior year and out for track and cross country three years. We didn't flaunt it or hide it either. There was one evening when I drove the workers from our house to another before I went to school for rehearsal. They knew where I was going but nothing was mentioned to me. That was about the time when it was OK for other kids to go down hill skiing where alcohol was being served, but it was not ok for four of us guys to go bowling at the YMCA. On another note; my son teaches in a small town and there are no scheduled school activities on Wednesday evenings. This was requested by the town churches so that there would be at least one evening when the kids could spend time at their church or with family.
