Is being in the Work in the genes? How many families do you know where there is more than one sibling in the Work? Is this due to upbringing, education or what? Can it then be a calling, or just pressure as everyone else in the family has chosen it?!

Without counting on my fingers/toes. I know of at least 5 families who have relatives in the work..and not all are siblings either...some nieces etc. As far as them choosing to go out into the work...IMO an individual choice ...and upbringing could play a part in it...

I don't think "worker" material is found in the genes...
I know several workers that have siblings in the work, but it's probably not genetic.
More likely, people considering the work with relatives or siblings currently in the work are more likely to know someone with a positive experience. Perhaps they have more realistic expectations because they have heard the experiences of their siblings? The conditions placed on young workers are not easy... I know many who have made a start, suffered tremendous health problems because of the stress, and subsequently left the work to pursue other careers.
A few young workers have helped with mission work in foreign countries before actually entering the work.

Because they are "groomed" for the work.

This made me remember what a senior worker said in missions in Queensland back around 92/93. He said that "God had given us His son... what were we giving back to God? How marvelous would it be to give to God our eldest sons... pray that your eldest sons could be given into this work of spreading the gospel" In our family there was certainly plenty of seed being planted about going into the work. My eldest brother is now in the work Could be coincidence I guess...

Gene did you have a brother or cousin in the work too? In the midwest and maybe Texas? I've been away for a long time, but last I heard about 10 -15 years ago, I seem to remember he also left the work, got married and had a family?
