Did you ever have any quiet and serious brother workers in your field growing up? The thinkers. Those who aren't men of many words. Those that stare at you in disapproval if they don't like what you do or say. Yet they utter not a word! Those who seem so cautious and careful. they think about everything they utter! These types give me the creeps. I like people that laugh, joke and have fun.
There is something about the separate lifestyle of the workers that breeds such strange behavior. And maybe quiet people are attracted to this lifestyle.

Sounds like you are describing someone who is "sober," as Paul encouraged folks to be.

Wow we must of been the lucky ones.. because we always ended up with the cool brother workers.. who would play basketball with us kids, listen to music, play board and card games with us...
It was the sister workers who I remember being very 'sober'....

"Those that stare at you in disapproval if they don't like what you do or say"
Could not help but wonder if this was so much in the looks as in the beholder? Sense of guilt?

Describes them all....brother and sister workers alike! Happy to sit on their throne and look down on the peons.

"Describes them all....brother and sister workers alike!"
This line sure tells a lot about that poster.

GustS - re "look down on the peons." They don't look down on me. What did you do / didn't do to cause them to look down on you?

Re "Regardless of what this person did or didn't do gives no man or woman the right to look down on anyone." Our thoughts exactly.

Regardless of what this person did or didn't do gives no man or woman the right to look down on anyone? Did Jesus look down on people? I believe that in our world today there are many people who go around ASSUMING soooo MUCH about what everyone else is thinking/feeling/assuming; and that we are in essence misunderstanding or misunderstood by each other....unless there can be open and HONEST dialogue about what is really going on within people, it's left to assumption .... or ..... Here's another choice: don't assume, and just love them regardless of what we may "think" they are thinking about us. I try to give other people the benefit of the doubt, while maintaining that no MAN on earth has any power over me; therefore what they do, or don't do, is of little importance.
Does this make any sense at all? If it does , then I could be one step closer to being understood and/or having better understanding myself.
Did Jesus look down on people? Well, He did not hesitate to 'correct' and to 'teach' others when He saw the opportunity, but He was diligent in making it known that it was His Father In Heaven, NOT himself that had the ability to do what He did. No one can make you feel inferiour without your consent .... that is if you have enough sense of strength to harness that integrity. But to receive Godly teaching and correction is part of being loved. One may feel they are being 'looked down on', but that might just be something inside themselves that just isn't feeling 'right'.
Are there workers with hearts that are hard, and who should reach out more to others? YOU BET! Is that a personality flaw? Maybe. Maybe they are the ones who are hurting the most inside and they need our prayers. Takes all kinds. Some workers are blabbermouths and but-t into everyone elses' and business and just have to be in the middle of everything; yet those are the types that can be delightfully entertaining and a refreshing change from stuffy dowdy sister workers who never let their hair down. Bouncy, boistrous joyful workers vs. workers who don't seem happy and therefore have great difficulty sharing the love and joy. LOVE is what it's all about. God is love. If you don't have the love, what have you got?
So, we really just need to be praying for everyone, don't we? Prayer is the answer. And even if you never see anyone else's attitude change, your own spirit will change when you connect with God in prayer. Soon, it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing; if you are happy yourself, no one can steal your joy! I firmly believe this. Never give up your own personal connection with God. THAT is where it's at!

There is a difference between sober and SOMBER. The lack of joy in the group is disturbing. No wonder some of them seem so cranky and unhappy. Their belief system is so ambigous and irrational.

I am always amazed with the very different experiences people have with the meetings that the negative people tend to be the ones who say "all," "everyone," this is how "they all" are...
You can't speak for me and you certainly can't know everyone. And if anyone is looking down on people it's those cpmplaining and critisizing in this thread about "those workers." They are as individual as you are. But then I can look down on "all those bitter exes" and say they are "all" hate mongerers, bitter vicious gossips and liars. Some are, some aren't.
