It might be useful to have a "register" of sorts to see where we're all coming from. If you would like, perhaps forum participants could post: 1. Name of church (or edited to avoid geographical details) 2. Denomination or affiliation 3. Website if your church has one 4. Slogan (if your church has one) 5. Symbol (if your church has one) 6. Type of worship (traditional, heavy liturgical, contemporary) 7. Type of sermon (short 'n' sweet, lengthy and analytical) 8. One interesting point about your church.I know it's a lot, but it could be very interesting! I politely request that all comments not on the topic here be avoided in this thread. Could we all agree that we can analyse and debate the responses to the above questions somewhere else? Thanking all in advance!(I just don't want a cluttered thread, tis all!)

1. Name of church (or edited to avoid geographical details)
No name.
2. Denomination or affiliation
Not a registered denomination or affiliated with any group or organisation.
3. Website if your church has one
Various, but no official.
4. Slogan (if your church has one)
No slogan. (Although "Fellowship, supremely sweet!" could be a contender)
5. Symbol (if your church has one)
None.
6. Type of worship (traditional, heavy liturgical, contemporary)
Traditional (and biblical) fellowship style. And, traditional preaching.
7. Type of sermon (short 'n' sweet, lengthy and analytical)
Medium-length, from the scriptures, no given "style".
8. One interesting point about your church.
It excites enormous controvesy!

I go to meetings with Gods people. Some meet in homes some else where. There is a cross denominational thing with those that are born of the SPIRIT because we are all Children of our FATHER.
GIT For what purpose do you ask these questions when from what you have written in the past you have all the answers?
1Cr 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

1. Name of church (or edited to avoid geographical details)
No name, other than the name of Christ Jesus, but it gathers in several different non/denominational settings
2. Denomination or affiliation
I am involved with believers in various ways among several non/denominations.
3. Website if your church has one
I'd have to check into this.
4. Slogan (if your church has one)
Some churches have a specific mission statement (aside from the Two Commandments and the Great Commission), but I don't know one off the top of my head. Personally I like this...Glorify God and Edify People.
5. Symbol (if your church has one)
I don't know of any particular symbols to differentiate between non/denominations, but symbol of the cross is a common symbol among believers in Christ.
6. Type of worship (traditional, heavy liturgical, contemporary)
I experience all three, but primarily contemporary.
7. Type of sermon (short 'n' sweet, lengthy and analytical)
Usually about 40 minutes..but sometimes more than that. Often others participate in sharing as well.
8. One interesting point about your church.
We can meet anywhere, anytime.
I agree with you Ken.......but I still felt like participating in GIT's request.
Blessings, Linda

I will search out and go to any church where the bible is preached without a slant. I suppose I am evangelistic in preference but not the arm waving type. At present attend a newly planted church in Limassol, Cyprus where the spirit is great and the numbers small. Some have previous Baptist, Presbyterian, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Jewish and Pentecostal histories. Have learnt such a lot from these folk and have never been happier spiritually. We are a happy ragbag remnant!

GOD's TRUE WAY, ie THE TRUTH!!! THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAT HAVE FOUND! And yes, I have attended MANY MANY other churchs. There seems to be this believe that because there is a name for many places to gather in Christs name that they are different churches. There is only one Chruch. "The Church of Jesus Christ" I belong to that Church and it meets anyplace and at anytime when Christians gather in HIS name. There is nothing else to proclaim.

PS
GIS needs more than above because he needs to fit his beliefs into a box. He cannot make his box correct until he can get others to fit their beliefs into his box constraints.
No my friends I will not put God into GIS type box as the F&W want so badly to do. The F&W's is not the nomenclature for the Church of Christ.

1) Whyte'scauseway Baptist Church
2) church of God
3) It has one, but I haven't checked it out.
4) I'm not aware of any "slogan," but "Love Thy Neighbour" would be an appropriate contender.
5) No symbols. It has a small organ though !
6) Basically traditional, Bible and Fellowship based.
7) Medium length, well researched, analysed, prepared and explained for practical living.
8) Focusses very much on loving God, the fellowship and our neighbour. It has a real "care for our neighbour" approach, which produces interesting and exciting initiatives.
In a reversal of William Irvine's export, our pastor came over from the States and certainly deserves "honour" in this country !

Thank you for asking.
Thanks be to God, I belong to the Holy Catholic Church. The one that dates back to Jesus and can PROVE it. I believe most of you are familiar with gods family.
God has been extremely good to me since I left the Cooneyites. He provided me with a wonderful loving Catholic partner and a huge loving Catholic family.
I praise god daily for t place in his family.

Cool questions - thanks for asking:
1. Name of church (or edited to avoid geographical details) None. I avoid church meetings but love touring old churches. The architecture of churches intrigues me and I often find it quite moving. Instead of church, I have fellowship with a vast variety of people, and find fulfillment in conversations with them about things that really matter -- the struggles of life, the joys of life, the pleasures and turmoil of interaction with others, indications of selflessness and consideration of the greater good of humanity, etc.
2. Denomination or affiliation No denomination -- affiliation seems to cover the range from atheist to agnostic to Christian to Jewish to Islamic etc.... I normally do not ask the question
3. Website if your church has one N/A
4. Slogan (if your church has one) N/A
5. Symbol (if your church has one) N/A
6. Type of worship (traditional, heavy liturgical, contemporary) No worship, per se, unless interaction with people who show evidence of loving their neighbor can be considered worship
7. Type of sermon (short 'n' sweet, lengthy and analytical) Conversational
8. One interesting point about your church. I think there is much to be said for non-organized non-religion.

I attend the same church as Gene & long gone.
It's worldwide, yet difficult to find. Most who claim to be religious have no affiliation with it. It accepts all regardless of race, sexual orientation, or monetary status. It is housed in one's heart.

www.calvaryheartland.org/What We Believe WE BELIEVE Worship of God should be Spiritual THEREFORE We remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship WE BELIEVE Worship of God should be Inspirational THEREFORE We give great place to music in our worship WE BELIEVE Worship of God should be Intelligent THEREFORE Our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God that He might instruct us how He would be worshipped WE BELIEVE Worship of God is Fruitful THEREFORE We look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him WE BELIEVE In all the basic doctrines of historic Christianity WE BELIEVE In the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God WE BELIEVE That there is one God, eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit WE BELIEVE That God is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign Creator of all things WE BELIEVE That Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His substitutionary death on the cross, was bodily raised from the dead, ascended back to the right hand of the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us WE BELIEVE In the personal, visible, and pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will return with His saints and set up a kingdom of which there will be no end WE BELIEVE After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today WE BELIEVE That all people are, by nature, separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord WE BELIEVE In the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the scriptural guidelines. We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless

1. Name of church (or edited to avoid geographical details)
St. Ann's Parish
2. Denomination or affiliation
Catholic
3. Website if your church has one
We dont have one for our particular parish
4. Slogan (if your church has one)
No slogan but we have say the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed
5. Symbol (if your church has one)
No symbol but St. Ann(Mary's mother) is the patroness of our parish
6. Type of worship (traditional, heavy liturgical, contemporary)
Definitely not contemporay, but not as traditional as I would prefer
7. Type of sermon (short 'n' sweet, lengthy and analytical)
Our homilies are usually about 10 or less(depending on the Priest) and ALWAYS pertains to the Gospel reading of the day. Our Mass usually lasts about 45 minutes to an hour. And daily Mass is usually about 30 min to 45 min.
8. One interesting point about your church.
We are a small mission church. Our town isnt big enough to have our own Priest so the neighboring town shares their Priests and all functions. The larger church that we are a mission of has a connected school where I am lucky enough to have my daughters attend.
Christ's Blessings Cat
